Question about Toshiba Cinevision DVR2000

1 Answer

Dvr2000 Inserting disks, whether brand new or not, player takes forever to "load" and once loaded and played, player pauses/freezes constantly and won't "resume" play making it totally useless. Have inserted cleaning disks, wiped disks clean and still will not play the disk. What is the problem source and how can it be fixed without expensive service repair? If no solution to problem can be explained, than its to the garbage can for this dvr2000. KL

Re: dvr2000

If its not a logic board issue, then its a read head issue. i would try everything else first, and then take the outer case off and physically clean the laser emitter / read head, and look for debris in the track the read head follows from center to edge of the disc.
if anyone else has a better suggestion that is not as invasive, try it first.
good luck

Dvd video player

Your DVD player is having a problem reading the disc. This is what is accounting for the pausing and the slow loading times...especially if it plays other movies without hitches. Even if the DVD is cleaned, some scratching on the disc will prevent it from being viewed properly. Blockbuster shoudl give you another disc to try of the same movie if you ask. Also, you can try getting a cleaner for your DVD player to remove dust and help it read discs better.

Bad disc

I have the same problem with some of the Discs I have burned. Most people say the power supply, but I have 2 of these units so I swapped the power supply to see if that was it. The problem stayed in the one machine, ruling out the power supply.

Problem playing DVD's

Dear Kevy, Assuming that the problem was dirty lens, I think that you should try a cleaning disk (preferably the the brand recommended by your player's manufacture, if appropriate.) Was the "clicking" sound a normal one, basing on your previous experience? Make sure that all connections are properly done.
