The router was open two days ago when I was playing the xboxlive suddenly the next day it changed to strict how can I change it back to open so I can play with my friends online?

Basically what happend is NAT closed instead of being open NAT. You have to log in to the router ip address in your web browser and set it to open nat. You get your router ip address by going to the command prompt and typing ipconfig. You can google this procedure or consult Netgear as they can walk you through it easily. Youtube has videos on how to open Nat on many different brand of routers. Now you know the problem and what the answer is please rate and comment!!! Thanks.

How to change my nat settings?

You are trying to open the NAT on the router for
X-box.
For this you will need to reduce the MTU settings
on the router to 1365.
You will also need to trigger some ports on the
router.
For this you will need to open the router set up
page.
Router set up page is the page where you can
change the settings of the router

How do i set nat type 2 on my wgt624v4 netgear router???

go to internet page ang go to address bar and type 192.168.1.1. This will access the router's software and then you can change any settings.
If it asks for username and password, type admin for both. Then change your settings and save your new settings.

Ps3 nat type 3

In order to achieve NAT 2, you are going to have to set your PS3 to a static IP address and forward ports on your router.

detailed instructions on how to do this and configure your ps3 can be found here:
http://www.pregamelobby.com/forum/sony-reviews-tips/5618-how-get-type-2-open-nat-your-ps3.html

In order to get into your router settings, go to 192.168.0.1 OR www.routerlogin.net (the router sets up its own DNS) and putting in your username and password. If you have not set up a password, the default username and password for this router is "admin"/"password". Follow the instructions in the page I posted once you are logged into the router's webmin.

Hope this helps!

Nat settings on netgear wgr614 wireless router

Hello --

Most NAT settings can be found, on modern routers, under the WAN setup of the router interface. Normally, it is set to Secured with the option of setting it to Open. Click Open and apply changes, giving the router a moment to reset the software and re-broadcast transmissions.

This comes secured for public consumption because the normal consumer would not create a WAN (wide access network) at home. However, gaming consoles (PS3 and Xbox 360) require this because of the P2P hosting that most online multiple-player games require. Setting it to Open full-duplexes the transmissions without restriction (since gaming console connections are "supposed" to be secure anyway).

After you've set the NAT settings, restart the gaming console, test the 'net connection and confirm it is reading your now Open NAT settings.
