This can be caused by the modem/network card poping it's socket. changes in temperature can cause the socket to expand and contract which can cause the modem/nic module to become disengaged, I have resolved a similar problem (on a different laptop) a suitable piece of card or wad of paper can keep the modem/nic from poping it's socket if laid on top of the socket but beneath the casing door (usually modems/nic's are accessible from a door on the underside of the casing)

Acer m5 481pt won't start. screen black, keyboard lights, fan turns on

Remove the battery and the adapter into the wall. When you boot up hold F10 or F12 (if one doesn't work, alternate).

Failing that, it could be a disk or other hardware failure, and you're going to need to take it in to be serviced. Good luck!

My Acer laptop will not boot up.

You may have a corrupted video driver due to an update. For some Acers, press and hold F10 when starting the computer. Two beeps will mean that the bios settings have been restored and the machine may boot correctly. If you can enter the BIOS via F2, F1, F10, ESC or DEL, then find the area for display and change it to low resolution then save and restart your computer. Once running, you will need to uninstall the current video driver and have the computer install a new one.

How to restore my laptop without a recovery disc? (acer aspire 5100)

You could try hitting the f10 key at the top of your keyboard as soon as you start the computer that should take you into factory restore to start with it looks likes its loading windows but in about a min it takes you into the option to take back to factory settings

If f10 dont work try alt\f10 or the blue fn\f10

if none of them work hit the delete key on startup and go into bios to make sure that f10 is not disabled because sometimes it is by default disabled

But be very carefull not to alter anything else in the bios or you could and probably have big problems just enable f10 0r f12 if they are disabled then hit save click yes

windows will then restart and try the f10 key again

good luck

Hearing continuous beep sound at startup that disappears on Esc

I started having the smae problem yesterday with my Acer 1410 bought end of 2009. It started after I had stoped some suspicious process to work on start up (using msconfig). During the night I scanned the computer for virus but found nothing. Tonight I will enable those process to work on start up again and see what happens.
I will post the information tomorrow.

When I turn on the computer during POST the motherboard buzzer makes a 6-7 second long beep error code. Thanks in advance for your answer.

The "beeps" your motherboard is making is an error code, designed to alert you of an error in an essential system component, such as a memory failure, general motherboard failure, video card failure, etc. When a PC is started, no matter the brand, it goes through a POST (power on self test).

The types of beeps is a code, and is often system specific; changing from the manufacturer of the system BIOS, (BIOS; Basic Input Output System). If you know the bios mfg, you can get a POST error code chart for that specific manufacturer online... this will tell you what component is in question...

I do find it odd that you've changed a motherboard, without trying to change your keyboard! Seems like it would be easier to troubleshoot a keyboard issue, than swapping out a motherboard.

I don't know how fast your post code error is coming out, but if you don't know the mfg of your BIOS, it splashes it on the screen at bootup, or you can check your manufacturer's website.
