Changing that setting was aparently a BAD idea!

On my Canon Rebel XT, I changed my "P" setting from Raw to L, since my computer doesn't read Raw files. I went to take a photo in the P setting and the camera shut off and started flashing ERR 99. It won't even attempt to turn on now. I hope someone can help!
Thank you in advance.

Hello: Try updating the firmware for the camers and software. Go to canon and download the firmware to a flash drive and connect your camera and install the latest firmware from canon.

CR2 files are created when you shoot RAW files. Your computer cannot read them without a Canon RAW plugin in whatever image processing software you're using.

Your camera can be set to record in JPEG, RAW or JPEG and RAW.

8 GB CF card has made the camera lose the Raw function even when I return old 1GB CF card still the same... any ideas?

1st, make sure the camera is in the Creative zone P, TV, AV, M or A-Dep. I have made this mistake many time and everytime I forget I moved the dial.

If dial is in the Creative Zone and still no RAW option then have the camera format the card, if that doesn't work do the following:

Turn off camera,
Remove lens,
Put on body cap.
Remove CF Card
Remove Battery
Let sit for about 30 minutes.
Put battery back in.
Put CF Card back in
Turn camera on
Put camera in Creative Zone
Push Menu button
Push Set button twice and check if RAW is now an option

If not then you can try the clear all settings function in the Set-Up 2 menu. Push the menu button then the left arrow button arrow down to the clear settings line push set the clear all functions.

If this doesn't help then I would say carry it to your nearest Canon Dealer that offers cleaning and service.

Color off seems amber

Double check the wb settings in camera, (and be sure to check WB Shift) I'd suggest adding a Blue shift to your images to compensate for the Amber until you find something thats a decent trade off, if you can't eliminate the amber shift.

Where is the raw button on canon digi reb

In order to be able to select RAW, you have to be in P, Tv, Av, or M. RAW is not an option in Auto or any of the Basic Modes.

Setting RAW as file format

Make sure that the mode dial is not set to one of the 'Basic Zones', i.e. Auto, Portrait, Landscape, etc. You should be able to select RAW or RAW+L in P, Tv, Av, M, or A-DEP.

My XT will not connect to Vista.

Well, that worked perfectly. Turn on your Rebel XT camera and under Menu then Tools go to Communication and set it to Print/PTP. Thank you to all you very smart people!

Spots on Rebel XT image

Dust is something that will need to be addressed. Get a Visual Dust brush and learn how to use it. You can help reduce dust by 1) changing lenses with the camera body facing down and 2) turning off your camera when changing lenses.
