Check this first: Certain Acer laptops come with a built-in Webcam called the "Acer Crystal Eye." This Webcam is located in the center of your lid just above your LCD screen. Those models that possess this integrated Webcam also have a program with the same name. This "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam" program allows you to record video through your Webcam and save it on your hard drive.
Step 1
Click "Start," "All Programs," "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam" and click the program shortcut of the same name. This opens up the Webcam where you can see yourself, but it hasn't started recording yet.
Step 2
Click the video camera icon, which is the one second from the left under the video display. This starts recording the video.
Step 3
Click the video camera icon again to stop recording and save your video. You can also delete the video by clicking the clip's thumbnail on the bottom panel and clicking the trashcan icon.
Step 4
Locate the video file on your hard drive in your "My Videos" folder, which can be found inside your "My Documents" folder.
Click "Start." Click "All Programs." Open the "Crystal Eye Webcam" folder. Click "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam" to launch the webcam and turn on the camera. If "Acer Crystal Eye" isn't available on the Start Menu, go to "Acer," then click "Acer OrbiCam."
Click the drop-down menu on the toolbar to change the resolution. Click the gear icon to change the settings.
Click the camera icon to capture a photo. To turn off the Acer webcam, click the "X" button on the top of the window.
Instructions1 Take pictures independent of communications software on the Windows version of the netbook by using the webcam without connecting to networking software. Click the "Windows Start" menu and click "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam" in the Programs list. The webcam application should open and the camera should produce an initial warmup image. Use the buttons on the control panel to adjust image size or take photos. 2 Use the Instant Messenger program on the Acer Linux-based laptop or netbook to work the webcam. The Acer Instant Messenger program is available in the Connect folder on the Acer laptop's desktop screen. 3 To send and receive live video and pictures using your webcam on an Acer laptop, work the webcam through individual communications software, including Skype, Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, or Google Video Chat. Open your selected communications software program and click the webcam button to work your webcam. Thanks

simpliest thing would be to go to acer's website, click on support and then drivers downloads and download the webcam drivers and softwar for your webcam..install them and try to run the crystal eye software again...sounds like the program isnt actually there but the drivers are.
If you go to your start menu, look for a programme called 'acer crystal eye webcam' and that will bring up your webcam programme.
It is not in the folder 'Acer crystal eye webcam' though, just 'Crystal eye webcam'.
If this proves fruitless, type webcam into the search option at the bottom of your start menu and look for the crystal eye webcam.
If these do not work, then look in your control panel to make sure it is installed. If not, contact company, they have a good customer service standard (from my experience)
i had to have my computer redone as i had some trogens and now the only way i can get my web cam to work is go on my space. i have reinstalled it and all but i cant find how to get it to come up
First is a good sign that if you click the Icon form the webcam software, and you see your picture. This indicates that the webcam drivers were installed correctly.
You will need a software that support the webcam to be able to use it. You can Try Skype (http://www.skype.com/), or MSN Messenger (http://im.live.com/).
Those programs will detect your webcam and will enable video chat, that way you can use your cam to communicate with others.
My laptop is an acer travelmate 5320 with windows vista home premium.
