GE WCVH6260 Front Load Washer

Our 6-month old washer goes through the initial wash cycle but does not spin the excess water out at the end of cycles. Many minutes before the end, the Pause/Start button light starts flashing -> when pushed, the washer starts water flowing into the drum for many minutes but does not ever get to the spin cycle.

I did this already this morning and it continues to give me the flashing start/pause light before the spin cycle and then hangs without ever going into the spin.

I have the same problem. Initial cycle runs and then never goes into the spin cycle. We took off the front panel, removed and cleaned the filter - found plenty of stuff to clog it - thought we had it. Put it all back together but still have the same issue - goes through the initial cycle then the pause button flashes. When pushed it slops to one side, then the other and then sits for a while, then flashes the pause button again. Is there possibly something else that could be clogged besides the filter to cause it not to drain or what else might we try? Calling our local service has proved to be a joke. Can't even get them to call us back.

I have the same problem - machine pauses mid-cycle won't spin and the water will not drain. I put in the rinse and spin cycle (18 minutes) and nothing happened except the drum turned one way then the other. I watched the counter go from 18 minutes to 1 and nothing happened. No water went in, no pumping out of standing water, and no spin cycle.

If someone can be more specific on how to get to the internal filter I would be grateful.

I removed the three screws, and lower cover cleaned the few pennies, screws and nasty gunk build up from the filter. The wash machine seems to function as it did prior to the clogged issue. Thank you everyone !!!

I had the same problem. I read this forum and started to investigate. You simply take the 3 screws out from under the front lip. I put a cake pan under the lip of the drain and unscrewed the filter to take out the stinky water. Once it won't unscrew anymore pull the filter out and clean. Replace the same way you took it apart. ....and no, it's not in your manual for this model

UPDATE: Turns out my filter was clogged and the pump burned out. I cleaned the filter and still no pumping. I replaced the pump and now the machine works like new - cycle times are correct. Bought the pump from GE and then haggled with them to refund the money, and they did.

This was amazing, removed the three screws to the front panel, unscrewed the filter (have a cake pan ready for the water and stuff) cleaned it, found $1.26 a necklace and a ton of lint...hope this is where the stagnite odor was coming from. Thanks for the help, it took about twenty minutes. It was harder to put the screws back in the front panel, than anything!

Mine did the same thing and it's because your hot water faucet needs to be on. I kept mine off because it leaked, so I have to turn the hot water faucet off and on each time, But the washer goes thru the cycle now. Only thing is, I cant wash in cold only. can't figure out why

Yes I have to agree with the previous posting. I had the same problem and the service tech for GE came out to repair. It is exactly what the previous posting says. That is what the tech did and agreed it is a common problem.

Easy, I had same problem. just need to take the front panel off and unscrew the filter/ trap clean it and put it back, the machine will run wonderfully again. you have to do this every couple of months

I have had this problem with two of my previous washers a top loader and front loader. Each time it was a faulty pump that drains the water from the tub after the wash cycle is complete. If the water does not drain from the tub the machine will not go to the spin cycle. Both of my washers were 5 or 6 years old when this occurred. If the washer is only 5 months old it should be under the manufactures warranty. Good Luck.

This has happened to us also. Our machine is 27 months old. I just had a non-GE repairman out and he showed me the mutilated belt. I was wrapped around the pulley. He said that the pulley had to be out of wack in order for this to happen because the belt looked in great condition (besides being in 3 pieces). Then the metal wheel (don't know the official name) is now warped and had gouged 3 grooves into the cheap plastic outer tub. So badly that it went thru to where the water is. So NOW, I have a big piece of scrap metal in my basement. I need a new outer tub, pulley, belt and at least 2 hours of labor. So a bill of 4-500$. I think GE can take this hunk of metal! But of course, GE has to send out their service man to inspect it. So I have to pay another service fee. They need to scrap this model and possibly others. What a waste of a whole lot of money. NEVER again.

Washer wil not spin or drain out after cycle completed

sounds like drain is plugged. this is a fairly easy fix,and you actually get paid to do it. unscrew the bottom panel of your washer should be 3 screws on the very bottom then you will see a white plug that is about 2 1/2" unscrew it (make sure you have a bowl under it water will leak ) and pull it out. this is where you get paid you will find all kinds of change and junk just clean it out reinstall and your clothes will be a lot drier after the spin cycle

GE WCVH6260 stops unexpectantly

Try buttons "dry" & "spin" together for a few seconds. This is the child lock display.

Or press "end of cycle" for over 5 seconds.

Or press "options & select" till the light goes off.

Works for other machines..............And please rate me if helped.

Check your drain with a good pour of water from a bucket, it must clear fast. It it doesn't snake it out; the prob lies there 99%. And don't push your exit hose too deep into the standpipe, 4 to 5 inches & not air tight.
