Re: how do I findmy wep key?

Hello ffoeg66off, My friend has the same make of router, If you can't find your wep key, are you sure it has one, not all routers have them, mine does, but my friend doesn't. If your Nintendo DS askes for a wep key like mine did, try to find a long conbination of letters and numbers, if it doesn't, you dont need one!

I cant haave internet on my ds lite

Nintendo DS handhelds will not work with WPA wireless encryption, only with WEP, or with unprotected wifi networks (not advised).
Check your router settings to see if they conform with the encryption allowed with the DS.

The wifi on my nintendo ds lite doesn't work even though i changed the settings to WEP ..i dont know if the wep key i type in on my DS is wrong because when i type in the wep key shown on the netgear...

Welcome to Fixya

First you need to check is if the WEP key that you are entering is the WEP key of your router. Try to connect a laptop to your computer which do not belong to the network. Say, your friends laptop. This laptop will ask for a security key if it's the first time to connect to the network. Enter your security key and see if the laptop can connect to the network. If it did not connect then the problem is your WEP key.

Have a good one!

My ds lite cant connect to my netgear WGR614because it says its security settings are not supported by the ds

Hi eporre1,

If you're receiving that error message we need to access the Wireless Settings Page of your Router to change some settings. Keep in mind that if we change the settings of your wireless connection other machine that is connected to the network will be disconnected due to the new settings, so take note of the settings that we will be changing.

To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type or The Default username is admin and the password is password. Password is case sensitive.

Go to the Wireless Settings Page try changing the encryprion to WEP 64bit and generate a Network Key. Remember the network key so that if you have laptops that are connected and will lose the connection that is the password that you need to input. If WEP 64bit wont work try WEP 128bit or WPA you can also disable the Security however you network can be access by others.

Now that we already know the setting of the router then its now time to connect the Dsi to the network.

1. Go to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings of the Game

2. Search for an Access Point (SSID)

3. Select your Network (SSID), If you have an open network, just click "OK" and it should work just fine! If it's a Red Padlock, it'll prompt you for a Password or Network Key. This is the reson why we access the router.

4. Test the Connection. If you have questions put a comment here.

Rate me if this helps so I can hep others. Thanks for using Fixya.

I want to connect with my Nintendo DS Lite to my NetGear router. But it says i need a WEP-key but i can't find it on my router. Can someone tell me where to find it?

You need to login to your router. To begin, You must be at a PC connected to the router.

1. Open you web browser.

2. Navigate to or depending on you model

3. If you have never setup your router you should login with default credentials. They are:
Username: admin Password: password
(if you have set the password and do not remember it, you must perform a factory reset: Press and hold reset button on the back of the router for aprox. 10 seconds.)

4. In the left-side menu, click "Wireless Settings". Your key will be listed in there

There are 2 ways to find out the WEP key on your network.

Netgear usualy sets default key which is located underneath the router ( it is a 10 digit long number you find below the bar code )

If you are still unable to locate the key, download this utility program and it will help you locate the key and other key information about the router ( network ) you have setup

Click on the download button below and follow the instructions

I am trying to get wifi on my nintendo ds lite ,

The DS's Wi-Fi capabilities are not up to par and can unfortunately be a little fickle sometimes, and many people would rather buy another wi-fi device before trying to set it up, but if you do want to attempt to obtain your wep key so you can have wi-fi I am happy to assist you.
What you must do is get on to a computer that is hooked up to your wireless modem. From there you should be able to bring up on your system settings the information about the modem. Depending on what type of modem it is, you may have to flip through the more advanced information to find the wep address.
Once you do, you will have to put that code into the DS and pray that it works, because much of the time your DS will still not be able to connect.

How do i set up a secure wireless network

Enter the router setup and then wireless setup and enter a WEP key. Then make sure all your devices have that WEP key programmed. Only devices with the correct WEP key will be able to access your router.

Have no set up instructions for the wgt624 wireless router

do you have the cd that came with it? if not, everything can be downloaded here

there 4 different routers in the wgt624 family. this is the first. check your label to be sure it isn't a later model chipset such as v2, v3, v4. if so use the download link at the netgear site to get the correct downloads for your specific model.

I have a netgear wgt624v2 and i can't get to connect to wi-fi on my ds

You are having problems with your encryption settings.

Remove the old settings from your operating system.

After this look for wireless connections.

Then click on your network.

Your operating system will now ask for the security key. Enter your keyword and connect. If web is the only problem then everything must work now.
