Is your question can you telephone (talk) and not "data" (send no pics - no text, no WWW) on your phone?

Probably. My spouse carries a Palm ... we didnt get a data plan because it was big bucks (a different carrier). We sent a picture from the phone (data). What the heck, it only cost a quarter on my phone, how much more could it be??? It was in excess of $25.00 to send that pic.

So, If I understand your question, my answer is a qualified "probably" ... just be careful what you do!

Hi! Can you please confirm that you've subscribed for BlackBerry data plan? For your information having an unlimited data plan will not entitle you use browser in BlackBerry device. For browsing in BlackBerry device your SIM card need to have special APN blackberry.net.

If you already have BlackBerry data plan then

go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Host Routing Table -> click Menu button -> select Register Now

or

Click Alt button and click Menu button -> select Show All. Look for the Internet Browser icon there.

Can't use wi-fi without data plan? on blackberry bold 9700 can't transfer pictures from laptop to blackberry either?
you can surf the net on a wifi network even of you dont have a data plan. turn the wifi on then select "set up wifi network" then just follow the instructions to be able to connect to the network. if you still can't after doing this, it might be because the signal of the network is not that strong.
regarding the bluetooth, go to media, then press the menu button (the bb logo), then select "receive via bluetooth" for your bb to receive the file from your laptop/other phones.

BlackBerries have different browsing profiles. Most likely your default is set to WiFi or HotSpot browser. Also, if you don't have a data plan with your carrier that might explain it. Without a data plan these phones can only connect through WiFi. Try going into the browser, selecting options and making sure that the default browser is Internet Browser.

I cannot get on to the internet
Browser settings on the blackberry only show up if you have the data plan with your provider. A lot of providers screw this up if you have the data plan so call them and they will refresh your plan.

Blackberry 6230 prepaid AT&T
(I work for AT&T and take this question everyday.)
ATT does not have blackberry data plans available in prepaid options. You may have purchased a basic data package, but without the correct data plan codes for blackberry, those basic features are worthless with a bb phone.

You won't be able to send e-mail messages without a BlackBerry data plan, or some sort of data plan. To use BlackBerry e-mail you need a BlackBerry data plan. There are some third-party e-mail clients out there, but they require some sort of data plan.

I haven't heard of an Internet-only plan on T-Mobile, as I don't think there is one. If you don't use a lot of minutes then I recommend the BlackBerry Minutes and Mail plan. It allows for 1000 Anytime Minutes, unlimited data (including Internet) and e-mai, and unlimited text messaging for $59.99

Do you have a BlackBerry data plan on your account? In order to check e-mails then you will need to add a BlackBerry data plan on your wireless account. Also, if you want to connect to your company's BlackBerry Enterprise Server (if they have one), then you will need to make sure that you add a Corporate BlackBerry data plan to your wireless account.
