Re: Modem is playing up

Your going through at a high time in the providor range, which means a lot of people are on at that time, so netowrks are usualy pretty slow. which would be the main reason why your experiencing those problems.

I would contact my ISP, the problem could be in the line somewhere. If there was a storm that went through lightning could of hit a phone line, or circuit, between you and the co.

VoIP not working after modem replaced

It is possible they have your modem in an internet only class- I would call them and verify the modem is in a class avaiable for phone.

Router problem

what is the modem brand / name? maybe you need to get the modem placed on bridged mode first before you can connect the linksys wireless router. check the ip address and make sure it's the ip of the router.

4100SS Power Button fails

I also had this problem with the 4100. This is what I did as a "Lo-Tech" fix. If you push in your power button and hold it in, and your modem powers on, then this should work for you. First unplug all cords. Turn the modem over and remove the small phillips screw from the bottom. Next, gently pry apart the two halves of the case. There are 4 tabs total. I found working back to front the best way. After removing the top half, gently pull the circuit board up and out. Now for the magic. Get yourself a twist-tie. Push the button all the way in, and wrap the twist tie around the whole button. Twist it down tight, and put everything back together. You should be good to go. If this doesn't work for you, or holding in the power button doesn't power up your modem, you could try just blobbing some solder over the three pins on the bottom of the board, under the switch. This should bypass the switch completely. Either way, you can cycle your power on and off with the cord instead of the button. Hope this helps!
