Re: keyboard

The keyboard is set to usa language instead of uk.

Easy to sort.
On xp.

Go in to the control panel and its the "regional and language" bit u want. Chane the regional option to uk for both bits. Then click on the languages bit then the details button. In there change the default input language to uk and click apply.

On vista is the clock language and region bit u want in the non classic view control panel. Then just change to uk.

Hope that sorts it for you?

Symbol @ from my hp is different i can not type

I had that problem before. When i installed windows 8 to my laptop, the keyboard goes that way. Try to click the key from what was the symbol appeared instead while you were pressing the 2 or @ key. Maybe they're switching each other...I cant find what was the reason why it happened, maybe the compatibility or driver issues. When i turned WIN 7 OS back...the keyboard works normally again.

When i am typing @ cant instead @ the letter is " please help

The keyboard is set up wrongly or the laptop isn't one set up for your country.
If you get " when typing @ try typing SHIFT and 2 for the @ symbol.
You can change keyboard settings in Control Panel.

Cannot find @ and # symbol on HP mini Vivienne Tam Keyboard

Sounds like you're setup for England rather than USA in Windows settings, at least the keyboard settings.

I have the Dell inspiron Mini and it will not type the "at" (@) symbol commonly found in email addresses when I push the shift and 2 key. All I get is the " symbol.

in your controll pannel go to "regional settings"
(if you have vista or windows 7 it is called "region and languages") and make sure your keyboard type is set to US english.

My laptop keyboard hasn't been working for about 24 hours. At first, my laptop shift key seemed to be stuck because I was typing in all symbols instead of numbers like # instead of 3 or & instead of 7....

1. Boot to diags, Fn+Power see if the issue occurs in the diagnostics, If it does, you need a keyboard at a minimum. If it works normally, then it is a software setting.
2. Boot to Safe Mode F8 at boot, see if it works normally there. If not then check the regional and language settings and make sure they match the keyboard you have installed (US, UK or French Canadian Keyboard?)

Hp mini keyboard shift key 2 does not type @

it has to do with your keyboard setting, currently you are set to the united kingdom keyboard layout, you will need to change this to Unite States settings assuming that you got vista, you will need to do the following

goto control panel
click on regional and language option (there will be a pop up)
click on the keyboard and languages tab
click on the change keyboard button (another pop up will appear)
click on add
and add the United States Keyboard
change the keyboard setting on the upper drop down menu to United States, and then click ok.....this should solve your problem.

Compaq Presario C700 numbers showing up instead of letters

Either address your "Num Lock" Key keyboard or your "Fn" Key on your keyboard. Either of these, or a combination of both should solve the issue.

Acer aspire 5720

your problem is because of the OS installation. the language and keyboard option is given during installation. the normal keyboard we use is in the US keyboard version. and the one you are using is in th UK version. this does not cause much probelm, once you know where the other symbols are located.. fpr example @ is not located above 2 but some where with , (coma) or . (full-stop) [ forgot the exact location ]

the problem can be solved if u re-install the OS... i doubt of any existing registry hack...

hope to get rated as helpful...
