SOURCE: need drivers to run windows 98se on dell xps m140

Microsoft (and Dell) stopped supporting Windows 98 a few years ago -- it lasted for over TEN years! So, it is *NOT* likely that you will find drivers for any computer that was "designed for Windows 2000" or "designed for Windows XP" or "designed for Vista".

So, in general, it is a _bad_ idea to connect any computer running Windows 98 to the Internet -- Microsoft has issued many "security-fixes" in the 4 years after they stopped supporting Windows 98 and Windows ME.

If the system is pausing for 10-30 seconds , there could be some bad sectors on the harddrive or , there are some unwanted programs running in the background
To check if your hdd is working fine
1. restart your computer
2. And press the F12 key slowly 5 times
3. Run onboard diagnostics on the hdd.

Dell XPS M140 Very Slow In Booting Up and General Use

Run a check disc, or hard drive test in the bios, if any part of the test fails, then the hard drive is failing and will need replaced. Delete anything from the start up section of the start menu/programs, and download and run CCleaner form filehippo.com, it will help keep your computer clean and running fast/smoother. Also, are you using Norton? If so, remove it and use the AVG. You can find it at File Hippo as well.
