Question about Koss CDP3600 Portable Personal MP3/CD Player
Hi all! My boyfriend just got the player in the subject line. It worked for a day or two and now it says "Flash Error. Backup files and reformat device". It didn't come with any device drivers, works via flash drive, and of course the manual was lost in the Christmas madness! Any help would be appreciated.
I have had a similiar problem. When I went and turned it on, the thing kept shutting off. Went to plug into computer and it wouldn't recognize. Here I found the problem. I was deleting some files from the player and I deleted the voice file. Which is what the player runs on. Do not ever delete the voice file... What I did was plug the unit into my computer. Clicked on the drive that it used to run off of. It then said I needed to format device. Went and did the format. Unfortunately it erases all the songs, so I had to redownload onto player, but now it is working properly and doesn't shut off and my computer recognizes drive.

I have the same player and had the same problem. First make sure that you back up your files. Open up My Computer, right click on the device, and click onto Format. It will format the player, but will clear all your music, that's why you need your files backed up. It did fix the problem and my player now works fine. I hope it resolves your problems.

I just received one of these for my birthday and my computer won't even recognize it! Now what do I do?
I am very frustrated. I also noticed that mine got very hot so I unplugged it from my computer and took the battery out.

That player is a serious POS. Mine got extremely hot and partially melted. Yours may be a fire hazard too. Don't leave the batteries in it. You might consider returning it. Trutech is a seriously crappy brand of electronics. Google "Why you should NOT buy Target's Trutech brand."

One of the files uploaded is corrupted you have to remove all files manually. Go to my computer the mp3 player and open the internal memory and erase everything. Then start from scratch you might have to plug it in without a battery in it to reset it.

What you need to do is remove the battery. plug it into the computer and it will recognize it as a drive. format the drive. the when you put the battery back in you just hold down the play button and it will come up.

Tips for a great answer:
File system error can appear due to unplugging the MP3 player without disconnecting it. It may have happened due to formatting it with a different file format or due to memory issue with the player. Please reformat your MP3/MP4 player. Connect it to the computer, go to My computer-> right click on the mp3/mp4 player after it is displayed-> select format-> Format it as FAT32 File system. Formatting the MP3/MP4 player will delete all the songs/data from the player. So, backup all data before formatting it. Hope this helps...
