Wd540p hotpoint washer dryer is not drying clothes. Any ideas?

Since no dryer I am aware of uses any liquid, I suggest you may be putting wet clothes into the dryer.
This can happen if the washer does not spin the clothes nearly dry. Many dryers have small holes in the dryer drum to let excess water flow out, I would guess that may be the case with yours.
Are your clothes nearly dry when they come out of the washer?
If not, perhaps the washer has a loose belt or has a problem with the "dry" cycle.

Check your dryer vent (probably outside) to be sure something or a kid hasn't flattened it, making it not vent moisture properly. Replace the vent or pull it back out so the damper door will open.

There is a thermal fuse at the back that you must check. The thermal fuse can be tested using a multimeter.
If the fuse is ok, then check the heating element , the temp probe, wiring harness to heating element and temp sensor, and if there is nothing in there , then test control timer board.


Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts. (here in UK).

If you remove the lid you will see the element on top of the drum.
There are a couple of thermal cutouts mounted on it which would be the first thing to check.
Also look for the obvious broken wires etc.
Also can you hear the fan running when machine is in operation?

my Hotpoint dry will not dry my clothes. It will run for hours and the clothes still haven't dry just felt hot.

yes, the dryer is pants im afraid. weve had ours going on 4 years & it has broke down every 6-10months - seriously! the dryer will leave clothes hot & steamy but when hung up for 1/4hr they r dry! _ Hotpoint advised us that he machine is esigned his way - but dont believe a word from their corporate b***hit mouths!

Filter blocked, disconnect hose from under sink connection and drain into bucket. Hotpoint does not want you to change filter, contact Service Engineer.

Is it still under warranty? I've read that these machines are better left at the retailer...
