A friend has no screen image when PC is booted...It's just grey...The XP splash screen shows, then goes through the loading process but then no image appears and the screen is light grey in colour.
If booted in "Safe Mode" the image on screen is normal.

Re: No screen image when booted
Go to Safe Mode and uninstall the older version of the driver of the VGA Card... reboot in normal mode, it has to login to the windows with no driver for VGA Adapater ... try to find the newest driver on internet and install it .. it should solve the problem

1. From reading your issue it seems the video card is defective. 2. If you have received the Windows XP splash screen and then the monitor displays a gray screen then only two things have happened here your drivers are corrupt for the video card or the video card itself has failed. 3. Suggestion: install a new video card compatible with Windows XP. 4. Most Dell Optiplex desktops have the video graphics card integrated to the the mother board.
Yes, this sounds like the traditional black screen issue, but it's
different! This machine is a Dell Dimension 3000 with XP. System won't
boot. After Blue Dell BIOS splash screen with F2 & F12 options, it
just goes black. There will ultimately be a white cursor in the upper
left hand corner. I can edit BIOS with F2, I can get in to the boot
menu with F12, but I can't do anything after that. I can even get in to
the Safe Mode menu (F8), but it never boots.
The splash screen with the LG Flatron logo is the monitor's splash screen not the PCs.
The machine is NOT booting up the splash screen is the monitor coming on.
Remove the 1Gb stick an see if the machine performs normally.
If it does then power it off, remove the power cord and CAREFULLY reinstall the new stick.
If it fails to boot you may have a defective memory module.
If the machine fails to boot with the new stick removed make sure you have the original memory seated properly and all cables securely attached
problem is simple to get rid of.
Enter your bios & disable the Full screen logo found in Boot settings. the 510 splash image is part of the bios.
If this is not what your talking about than give me another description of your problem.
It could also be that the video card is not compatible with this monitor. After the pc boots up, can you get into windows? Does the monitor always go out at a specific time on boot? Say for example; you boot the pc, windows startup splash screen comes on; screen does a quick flash and goes blank. Then it maybe the BIOS setting for the video. Try changing the IRQ setting. You could also try putting the video card in another slot. Do you have the manual for the motherboard?
