The Sony VAIO CS-series Computer model has a known issue with its fan. If the fan is making abnormally loud noise and causing the Computer to shut off then service will be required. You can contact Sony Service Center to get the Computer repaired.

However, if the fan is not making loud noise but the Computer is shutting off automatically then possibly it may be a virus or the failure of the power supply unit. In this case, you may run complete system scan using an updated Antivirus program such as Norton to check for any potential threat. Furthermore, you can perform the C: Drive Restore using the VAIO Recovery Center or complete System recovery using the Recovery disc to ensure that the issue is not related to Software.

There are many things that could be causing this problem: bad processor fan, processor failure, bad power supply - these are the more probable causes. There really is no way you are going to know until you take it to a shop and let them test it.

Unplug from A/C adapter & remove battery and let sit fo a while..
Put battery back and plug in the A/C adapter, then turn back on.

Properly Configure Time Zone

Make sure that you have properly configured the time and selected the right time zone. Configuring the time zone properly may fix clock that keeps resetting. To do so follow these steps:

  1. Click on Start
  2. Open Control Panel
  3. Click on Date and Time
  4. Click on Time Zone
  5. Select the right time zone by clicking the arrow below
  6. After selecting time zone don't forget to click "automatically adjust...."
  7. Click OK

Check CMOS Battery

There is battery named CMOS on the motherboard, if this battery becomes dead PC loses its date and time settings. Problem in battery may result in this issue. Replacing the battery with a new one is the best solution to fix the problem.

Install Windows Update

Some of the Windows updates also contain a patch to fix clock keeps resetting. To download and install latest Windows updates follow the steps below:

  1. Click on Start and open Control Panel
  2. Locate and click on Windows Update
  3. In the right panel click on Check for Updates
  4. Install the Updates
  5. Restart your computer
