Question about DeLonghi Pinguino PAC-02 Air Conditioner

FX-160 not working

My Delonghi Fx-160 sits and works a s a fan when ti starts. Usually it starts cooling after a few minutes but on occasion it seems to just sit their with the fan runing not performing any cooling.

Restartign the device dosen't solve it, it just starts cooling randomly, usually after a few days.

There are no error messages displayed and the de-humidify function dosen't appear to operate during these 'events' either.

Anty ideas, it this a service issue or is it something overloading?

Re: FX-160 not working

Check your voltage in your area or check your outlet it may be loose. If your outlet is loose try using another outlet to test the unit.
May be the unit is tripping due to abnormal voltage or loose outlet.

Ok So We Bought This. But We Have A Problem Does It Take Water Or Not? Thats What I Need To Know! Please Help!

The DeLonghi PACA120E Portable Air Conditioner quickly cools rooms up to 400 square feet and comes equipped with several functions that make operation easy and low maintenance. Its 3 operating modes are supplemented with no-drip technology, an adjustable thermostat, 24-hour timer, and much more. This unit truly takes the work out of cooling medium- to large-sized spaces. Multiple Modes and Functions The DeLonghi A120E-also known as the Delonghi Pinguino PAC A120E-offers 3 operating modes and 3 additional operating functions that make this model versatile and energy efficient. Cool Mode: 12,000 BTUs of cooling power help cool large rooms, offices, or basements. Dry Mode: Reduce room humidity by removing excess moisture from the air. Fan Mode: Circulate air to keep your room comfortable without using a lot of energy. Low, medium, high, and an auto-speed are all included (auto speed selects a fan speed for you). Smart Function: Your AC uses Cool and Fan mode based on ambient room temperature. This function will also select your fan speed and keeps your room comfortable without wasting energy. Sleep Function: Using a low fan speed, the AC gradually reduces operation so your room remains comfortable but the AC runs more quietly and efficiently while you sleep. Boost Function: This function is ideal for the summer months and uses the maximum fan speed to rapidly reduce your room temperature. Useful Features Using DeLonghi's patented no-drip technology, this unit is "dripless" under normal conditions, meaning the AC will discharge all of the moisture collected from the air-so you typically won't have to worry about draining the water. When dehumidifying a lot of moisture in Dry mode, excess water may collect in the internal collection tank. Once the tank is full, the air conditioner will automatically turn off to avoid overflow damage. You can also use the included continuous drain hose as a no-fuss way to eliminate excess water as needed. An adjustable thermostat provides additional convenience by allowing you to set your room temperature. The DeLonghi portable AC will cycle on and off to eliminate over-cooling and maintain the set temperature. Additional Features Washable Air Filter: A washable air filter helps remove allergens and other particles from incoming air and saves you money on replacement filters. Quiet Operation: High efficiency compressor and components result in quiet performance. Electronic Controls: The LCD screen displays the timer and temperature settings, while intuitive indicator lights accompany each operating mode. 24-Hour Timer: This feature lets you program your AC to turn on or off up to 24 hours in advance, so it only runs when needed. Window Bracket: Double window bracket is included with purchase for flexible installation. Self-Diagnosis System: The unit includes a self-diagnostic maintenance system that identifies malfunctions should they occur. Remote Control: Use the full-featured remote control to change modes, set the timer, and select a fan speed up to 23 feet away from the receiver (on the front of the unit). Portability: Easy-roll casters and dual carrying handles make it simple to move this model from space to space.

Window air conditioner cools (very icy cool air) for a minute or two then switches to fan. Will then stay on fan for about 10 minutes and then once again get "very cold", but only for a minute or two

Before I even read that far into your post, I was thinking "thermostat" replace it...It seems to be failing badly. If you take it into logical perspective...normally the unit gets turned on, then takes a bit to get cold, then once it reaches its pre-determined temperature, turns the unit either "off" or just blows the kicking off the compressor. This unit you have is getting this cycle done within 5 minutes instead of a few hours...replace the thermo and you should be fine. Now if you could post the exact model number here I can go look up the part for you.

Hi there i have a delonghi one split system air con. unit cools good for a minute or so then starts to struggle blowing warmer air. i have noticed the condensor fan on the unit out side does not turn on....

Either the fan motor outside is bad or the run capacitor for it is bad. One quick way to tell, you just have to be really careful, when the compressor turns on get a long screwdriver and spin start the fan. If it starts turning then simply replace the start capacitor, which more than likely will look bloated. If it doesn't start then you need to replace the motor.

When we turn the AC on, after a couple of minutes we hear a hum which lasts about a 1.5 minutes then shuts off. No fan air movement or cooling detected. The unit is 5 years old. We RARELY use it and when...

Go up on roof and using a stick or similar, poke it through the air holes in side & try to turn the fan blade at rear of the air conditioner. Make sure it's off at the time. Try to get 2 or 3 complete revolutions of the fan blades, then try turning it on fan only first, and let it run on fan for a few minutes, then switch to cool. If worse comes to worse and you can't get blades to turn, remove cover on roof (watch for wasps & bees) and spin fan blades a few times by hand, step back & have someone try fan only. If that works, then try cool. Sometimes they get a dead spot from sitting, and that will get it going again, 90% of the time. Let me know how it goes.

The a/c unit cooling fan shuts down shortly after unit kicks on.

If a fan motor quits working during a cycle it usually means that the thermal protector is turning it off. If you had an amp meter on it, you would notice that it is exceeding the listing on the nameplate, Nine times out of ten this is irreversable, the motor needs to be changed. Sometimes if there are oil ports on the motor, you can add a few drops of zoom spout oil and that does the trick. But usually the motor is already damaged. Good luck.
