Re: my wireless router wont work

Run a cat5 cable from the laptop to a cat5 port on the router, open internet explorer in the address window type or what ever the IP address of the router once you have accessed the router create your PPPOE internet connection, enter your Internet Service Provider's username and password. Once you have done this, disconnect the cat5 cable and connect wirelessly to the router from the laptop. If all this fails press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 10-15 seconds this will reset the router to factory defaults. connect to the wireless router and create the PPPOE connection. My linksys router doesnt have a default gateway and the reset buttton on the router doesnt work either

When you look between the Ethernet port and Power button, there should be a reset button there you should hold for 5 seconds. Of course if you do that, If you changed Network name and key that will be reset to the default settings, Also is wireless network showing when you pull up the Networks? You can leave user name blank, but default password is admin. Also email me with more info I will be glad to help

I have a Belkin F5D8233-4v3 router. I can get just one wired port to work. I use both wireless and wired connections. Could this be a hardware or software problem?

That's a fairly new router, you shouldn't be having those issues. Make sure you're identifying the uplink port, the quickstart guide with router should help with that.

If everything is wired correctly, it could be either firmware of hardware. Might want to try calling Belkin or even where you bought it from to see if you can exchange. Sounds like you got a defective unit. Alternately, try going to Belkin's website and downloading and installing the latest firmware for the router. If that doesn't do it, then you have a hardware failure, and Belkin should owe you a new router, that router claims a lifetime warranty.

There is a new firmware v4, sounds like you have v3, check here:

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware on a belkin wireless router

upgrade of Firmware is at your risk...
never upgrade Firmwares....they are not ment for that....
your hardware may be rendered useless after firmware upgrades....the chip inside your hardware is programed to run based on a certian program installed as a firmware from the factory....sometimes upgrades will screwup your be careful and do it at your own risk...

Linksys rouder suddenly stoped alowing other computers net access

I would recommend upgrading the router firmware, if you have not done this already.

Download the firmware file from the Linksys website:

Typically, the upgrade is done by pointing your web browser at the IP address of the Linksys router. Linksys should provide specific instructions at the site above.

Problem connecting my linksys WRT160N to pc.

Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure it. In case it doesn't work then try upgrading the firmware on the router. This should fix it.

Wireleess router wont work PLEASE HELP!!!!!

You will need to logon the router via the computer, and create a PPPOE internet connection. The user manual that came with the router will show you how to do this. If you do not have the manual. Do the following: open internet explorer in the address window type the IP of the router "example" your router IP should be on the bottom of the router. If not click start/run, type ipconfig at the > the router ip is listed at "default gateway". once you get to the routers logon page enter one of the following: username "leave blank" - username " admin " -or- username "admin" - password 1234. once logged on the router go to internet connections and select PPPOE enter the username and password provided by your ISP save the settings and you should make the internet connection now. Wireleess router wont start

Try putting a cat5 cable from the computer's network port to a cat5 port on the router then on the computer open internet explorer in the address window type the following but use the IP address of the router "which is the Deaut Gateway" it will be on the bottom of the router and also in the manual that came with the router, -or- use the username and password in the manual, the username will either be admin with password of 1234 -or- the username field will be left blank with the password of admin. after you logon the router's setup page you can configure the router as you desire. be sure and create the PPPOE internet connection on the router use the username and password that your internet provider gave you. D-link 634M wireless router problem

Assuming wireless connection is enabled in the router(if you have the option), and it was set up initially through a RJ45 lead; make sure the router is not using 108 mbps streaming, as your laptop probably only has 54 mbps capability. See if you can set it to 54 mbps and re-start router.
