Re: my wireless router wont work
Run a cat5 cable from the laptop to a cat5 port on the router, open internet explorer in the address window type http://192.168.1.1 or what ever the IP address of the router once you have accessed the router create your PPPOE internet connection, enter your Internet Service Provider's username and password. Once you have done this, disconnect the cat5 cable and connect wirelessly to the router from the laptop. If all this fails press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 10-15 seconds this will reset the router to factory defaults. connect to the wireless router and create the PPPOE connection. Hello sbregar here, your problem is not very hard try ALL usb connections, if that doesnt work go to HARDWARE under control panel and click new hardware, you go through a wizard and it should work thanks. :D
That's a fairly new router, you shouldn't be having those issues. Make sure you're identifying the uplink port, the quickstart guide with router should help with that.
If everything is wired correctly, it could be either firmware of hardware. Might want to try calling Belkin or even where you bought it from to see if you can exchange. Sounds like you got a defective unit. Alternately, try going to Belkin's website and downloading and installing the latest firmware for the router. If that doesn't do it, then you have a hardware failure, and Belkin should owe you a new router, that router claims a lifetime warranty.
upgrade of Firmware is at your risk...
never upgrade Firmwares....they are not ment for that....
your hardware may be rendered useless after firmware upgrades....the chip inside your hardware is programed to run based on a certian program installed as a firmware from the factory....sometimes upgrades will screwup your hardware....so be careful and do it at your own risk...
You will need to logon the router via the computer, and create a PPPOE internet connection. The user manual that came with the router will show you how to do this. If you do not have the manual. Do the following: open internet explorer in the address window type the IP of the router "example" http://192.168.2.1 your router IP should be on the bottom of the router. If not click start/run, type ipconfig at the > the router ip is listed at "default gateway". once you get to the routers logon page enter one of the following: username "leave blank" - username " admin " -or- username "admin" - password 1234. once logged on the router go to internet connections and select PPPOE enter the username and password provided by your ISP save the settings and you should make the internet connection now. Try putting a cat5 cable from the computer's network port to a cat5 port on the router then on the computer open internet explorer in the address window type the following but use the IP address of the router "which is the Deaut Gateway" it will be on the bottom of the router and also in the manual that came with the router, http://192.168.2.1 -or- 22.214.171.124 use the username and password in the manual, the username will either be admin with password of 1234 -or- the username field will be left blank with the password of admin. after you logon the router's setup page you can configure the router as you desire. be sure and create the PPPOE internet connection on the router use the username and password that your internet provider gave you. Assuming wireless connection is enabled in the router(if you have the option), and it was set up initially through a RJ45 lead; make sure the router is not using 108 mbps streaming, as your laptop probably only has 54 mbps capability.
See if you can set it to 54 mbps and re-start router.
