Problem for Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27FS120 27" TV
I have two Sony KV-27FS120, they have the same
I have two Sony KV-27FS120, they have the same problem, 4 blink, both have no vertical & horizontal drive from IC001 jungle chip, and Q505 horiz output blow. Circuits between them look good. I replace IC001 M65582AMF-105FP part #680493702 by sub M65587MF-105FP part #680668701 from MCM electronic store. I verify the flyback with a flyback tester, say good but is not sure at 100%.
I try on one TV, Q505 blow up again and IC001 still have no drive output.
So, what's going on???

- For the first time, When I check the circuit, IC001 & Q505 was defective. I replaced IC001 & Q505. Turn on power, Q505 blow immediatly and i got no Vertical & Horizontal output on IC001. I have a scope and the manual, there is no signal. Transistor Q505 is an original. The card has not suffered from heat, no cold solders arround horiz. drive transformer.The question I ask myself, why IC001 is defective for the second time? The IC is expensive $ 33. Any other suggestion? A guy in another forum had the same problem, he does not know the cause.Oct 23, 2009
- I made a mistake not checking jungle chip output without horiz o/p transistor (open the collector). I appreciate your last statement is professional.Best Solution

Check very carefully for cold solders on horiz. drive transformer also replace the electrolytic cap that shapes the horiz. drive signal - if you have a scope and manual compare the drive signal shape.
Some times using poor after market horiz o/p's also causes the problem - does the o/p heatsink get to hot to touch or does the horiz o/p blow immeadiatly?

- I don't know why your IC blows but my suggestions were all valid. Idon't know why you rated me saying I was off topic - I guess that will teach me for trying to help!!Oct 20, 2009
- I know you had no Horiz. drive - I should have said unload the horiz o/p transistor (open the collector) and then momentarily turn on the set with a known good IC. I realize it's an expensive IC and the possible reason it may blow is that when one of the secondary voltages from the flyback -once started - may be too high or have to much a/c ripple (poor filtering). with the Horiz o/p unloaded you can chec at least the signal. I have worked on many of these sets b4 and was pointing out the common faults. Some times you can't even see that the horiz. drv tranformer has cold solders - I just unsolder all leads and resolder and always change the drive cap because frequently it will mis shape the horiz. freq signal causing overdriving - which blows the o/p.Sorry,I should have explained better originally
