yes they are shortish, I was just using the computer as normal one day and it just started doing it when I turned it on one day. I don't know what a jumper or bios battery is....do I just unscrew the cvering and find this stuff in there? it looks pretty dusty...could it be that? I got a new computer after this one started to do this but there is a file I want out of it, thats the only reason I want to get into it.

thanks, I think I understand, but I don't know anything about the insides of the computer so I think I would be wise to not open it up and remove things! hmmm..although since it's not doing much good as it is I guess its not going to make it any worse. :) thanks for the help

How long are the beeps? If they are shortish then it suggests that the ram on your motherboard isnt working properly. Try removing it and reseating it. Make sure all the power is turned off before doing this.

Also there is a jumper located near the bios battery for resetting the bios. Move that to the clear position then back again after a minuter or so. That will put it back to default setting.

How did the problem start? Had you been adjusting anything in the bios at all?

If its short beeps the its sounds like one of your ram sticks is faulty or maybe the motherboard.

Is there more than one ram stick in it? If so then try removing one and see if it works. If it doesnt then try the other one.

You can take the hard drive out and put it in another pc to get the file that you need.

    Hope this helps?

Almost always indicative of a RAM memory problem. Troubleshoot by removing 1 stick of memory and rebooting. Switch sticks to determine if either stick of memory is bad or a bad bank on the motherboard.

Seems "desynchronized," beeping constantly, doesn't seem to work anymore

Reset the unit, (page 21 in the manual.) If you are missing the manual... Put the receiver next to the transmitter. Turn the receiver off then on again While holding the volume button on the receiver hold down the pager button on the transmitter. Do this until it beeps
That's what the manual said, I had to try it several times before it worked. I'm not exactly sure what I did the last time (maybe held it down longer or pushed it repeatedly), but it made a different beeping sound than the first times and suddenly it started working again.

My ps3 stopped showing picture ,it was working i turned it on i saw user screen then nothing, already replaced video cord

try video reset

when ps3 is in standby mode(red light)
press and hold the power button till you hear a second beep.

standby mode press hold power........"beep"......"beep"..release power button

then try rebuilding the database and the file system in recovery consol

to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3 is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till you get double beep.

like on my 80g system it goes like this

ps3 standby...press hold power.......beep .........beep........stanby again....release and hold power again.......beep .........double beep...release power now you should be in recovery menu.

Abit nf8-v keeps beeping when turned on. no video

How is the beep sounds? Long beep and three short beep or one (-...) or all long beep?
For the first, usualy the VGA connector is not correctly seated, so the motherboard can say it has no output device and beeping.
The last is usually memory problem. Try, unplug your memory board and replug it again, make sure that it is correctly seated.
