Re: lg pilot amd athlon system

How long are the beeps? If they are shortish then it suggests that the ram on your motherboard isnt working properly. Try removing it and reseating it. Make sure all the power is turned off before doing this.

Also there is a jumper located near the bios battery for resetting the bios. Move that to the clear position then back again after a minuter or so. That will put it back to default setting.

How did the problem start? Had you been adjusting anything in the bios at all?

Psu wont turn on

Test the PSU. Unplug it from the motherboard and then with nothing connected, short the green wire to any ground (usually a black) using a paperclip and it should come on and stay on if the problem was with the motherboard/computer but if it shuts down, then you know the problem is the PSU itself.

If the PSU stays on under no load, then one possibility is you had too much connected to it and it shut down as a protective feature. The Bios would not beep if the PSU is shutting itself down. Also make sure you have the internal speaker connected. It's possible you just can't hear the beep because there is no speaker connected or it may be connected to the wrong place.

Don't throw away a defective power supply. It is worth a couple bucks as parts for an electronics enthusiast. Keep it out of the landfill.

I would venture that "shows winfast on monitor" indicates the type of Video Card that your PC is using. Thereafter it should go to POST showing the motherboard, BIOS, memory count and others.

Since as you posted, after Winfast nothing follows, I can only suspect that you have a motherboard problem or at least a BIOS corruption.

Please post back the brand and model of your computer or at least what motherboard.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

System unit or power supply?

The computer power supply may have failed. Do you get the "post beep"?

If not- remove the BIOS battery, move the jumper to "Clear BIOS" . Insert BIOS battery, and try to boot. Put jumper back to normal position and try boot again. If you do not get the post beep, swap power supply for a known good one, and try boot again. If it still does not boot and give you a post beep, look to see if there is a removable BIOS chip- pop it out and put it back, this will clean the terminals. Go through and reset BIOS, as above, and try boot. If the system is functional, it should now boot up, but prompt for you to run the setup program.

If it does not boot, the problem is relating to motherboard/processor.

When I turn on my computer it beeps 6 times and there is no display on monitor.

Hello, depends on the make of your bios. Try here: if you try unplugging/reconnecting keyboard and mouse, never do it with computer powered on, unless they're USB connections, as you can blow the circuit. Regards, nicam49

Dell 4400 Main power in house went off while using my computer and then went back on about an hour later. Now when I try and restart the PC, the power button light turns yellow like it is in sleep mode...

The power supply or mother board probably went out. Did any other items in the house stop working? This happened to me years ago and the electric company reimbursed me for damages.
You can try unplugging the power cord for a few minutes, then retry listen for any beeps from the computer. If it is powering on but nothing on the screen and no beeps *********** board is probably toast.

When i press the on switch the computer light turn red color and have a beep sound.

1 or 2 beeps is normal when turning on, for most mobo's. Check the motherboard owners manual for beep errors, for example 3 beeps might be a graphics card error, 4 keyboard error, or CPU or memory. it's in the manual for the specific motherboard. You can get it from the manufacturer's website. I can not supply a link to get you the online manual because you didn't specify what kind of motherboard you are using. Does it still boot? Do you see the BIOS on screen? Any error messages? When you press the power button your computer normally should beep once or twice and then performs a POST... Power-On-Self-Test. and this is when you get any error beeps. It could be something simple like forgot to hook up the monitor, to CPU or memory is loose, or memory is not compatible if you upgraded the memory.

My Viewsonic monitor flashs but noscreen display. Is this the power supply

If the light (yellow or pink) is flashing, your monitor is well. It's your CPU that is not giving a video signal to your monitor. Try to reset and notice if your CPU beeps. If it doesn't beep, then there is something wrong with the CPU... or the CPU's speaker.

3 beeps every few minutes

That maybe a memory beep code. Turn it off and remove and re-insert the memory modules on the mainboard.

If this doesnt work, get back to me.

Computer not powering up / no light at hard drive.. but power to machine

Ok...since there are lights..then it's most likely, not your power supply.'
We need a few questions answered so we can narrow it down to what it could be.

1. What operating system are you running, harddrive, ram, some computer specifications would help?
2. What was being done last, when the computer went could possibly be a virus, so we need to find out if a file was opened up, or an email, things like that.....was there something any beeps beep when the computer starts up>

Let me know these things and we'll narrow it down to something solvable..
