Well, I monitor only the county Fire/Emergency system...I do not think it is digital. The static stops when I get within a few feet of the moonitor and starts again if I step away...does that sound like the digital static you mentioned? Might it be a problem with my scanner?

It may be that someone you are monitoring is now using digital or at least parttime.

when they go digital, you may only hear static.

hope this helps.

Squelch is open all the time on uniden bc350a scanner

Hi,

Have you turned the squelch knob all the way in both directions, to see if that helps?

If so, then you have to replace that squelch knob unit, with a newbie.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Peter

These were notorious for having unsoldered connections and cold soldered connections. Perhaps you have one of them. My BC350a is still going strong

I have a bearcat scanner BC350A

Units that are stored for a long time may take some time (hours) if caps inside have gone flat from no use.

Uniden also has or had a flat charge for repair of these units--might want to look into that and weigh it versus the cost of a newer scanner.

How do i program the bc350a scanner

Your scanner does not have a standard keyboard programming function. Rather you must "capture" a frequency in SCAN or SEARCH mode, and then transfer (program) it into the scanner's PRIVATE bank. For detailed instructions on doing this, you can download/print the scanner's operating manual here:

Constant static

Sounds like a tech problem internally, may need cleaning on the pot. A service center can fix it. Or could be an Ant problem? Check your Ant connection make sure they are good and not dirty. Mositure in our homes builds up inside and on all connection. 1200 grit Sand papers works well on ant connection. Or did you move the scanner? that will cause problems as well.

Pioneer VSX-D85OS very loud static through speakers.

Its over heating no cheap fix. But wait if u buy an eternal fan n place it on top or behind it will do the trick. Try blowing on top when static happens n sound comes back on.
