Your closed caption is turned on. The box is a text box. Closed captioning has CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, TEXT1, TEXT2, TEXT3 AND TEXT4 modes. Each mode has it's own use or screen position. If you have a CC button on your remote, press it until CC is OFF. You may need to go into the TV menu to do this, I'm not certain. At any rate, with a little investigation, you should find the closed captioning feature and discover how to shut it off. Best wishes.
Determine if closed captioning is available on the program that you've selected. In your program guide, the letters "CC" should appear at the end of the description. Locate the closed captioning option on your remote. Some remotes have a "CC" button that you simply need to push to activate closed captioning Locate the closed captioning option in your television's menu if there is no "CC" button on your remote. To do this, push the "menu" button on the remote control. The closed captioning option will probably be in the same section as the language function. Set the closed captioning option to "on." Within several seconds, you should see the text appear on your screen. To use closed captioning for DVDs, look for the "CC" label on the lower back section of the DVD case where it lists audio information. Turn on your TV's closed captioning and you should see the captioning like you do on a television program. The problem was with the Motorfolla Comcast cable box not my T.V. . I turned off my Comcast cable box, pressed menu on the remote to the cable box. This made a 16:9 ratio appear on the cable box's LED read out, and a bluish screen appear on my television. One of the options on my television was to turn on and off closed captioning. Therfore, I turned off closed captioning and the problem was solved.
On the 27" TruFlat the closed caption button is hidden within the DVD buttons. You have to press it multiple times to shut off closed caption. It seems to have multiple sources for closed captions. Press the button until no source appears on the screen. ITS CONTROLED AT THE REMOTE CONTROL - NOT ON THE ON-SCREEN TV MENUS. Good Luck
Closed caption wont turn off was solved by Bresnan tech. He told me the only way was to push the power button on my remote & then push the menu button right away & it would bring up a white screen & cc would be on it. I could't get it to work so I pushed the power button on my remote & the menu button on my motorola cable box & up came the screen & closed caption was on it. I disabled it & it took off the closed caption. Hope this helps
