Golf 2002 mk 4 130 making a strange noise when revs up

Hi the engine is making a strange noise when it revs up. i think the timing belt could be on its way out. i have done 116,500 miles and know it needs changing soon. could it be the timing belt or could it be something else. still drives ok, but sounds more noisy, a higher pitch.

If you think it's the timing belt, get it replaced or inspected.

Even though there are other things that might make a noise, the damage you might do by having the timing belt fail while the engine is running are not worth the risk.

Hi my name is jerome and last night i was driving my car a golf mk 4 2.0L .. i was driving at 30km/h and i heard a snapping sound. suddenly the car switched off, i opened my bornet checking for any...

This depends on the engine code, but normally valves can collide with pistons, Time up the engine and put a belt on, remove spark plugs and turn the engine over by hand.if it turns over a couple of full revolutions without undue pressure I would then replace the plugs and try to start the engine, if it misfires or is noisy turn off immediately as internal damage has been likely to have been incurred, this will then require removal of the cylinder head, Regards Mike

Golf mk 5 sdi weired noise

think the heater relay timer for the glow plugs is having a heart attack and playing up ,often happens and a new one is about 90 euros and only available from the dealer normally but some motor factors will supply but they only send a lad to the dealers on a moped whilst you wait for it thinking they are having a job finding one

Have a strange humming noise that can be heard

Hi:
Often "humming" noises like what you are experiencing are caused by a failing bearing somewhere. Some usual suspects are wheel bearings, alternator bearings, and sometimes even your waterpump, but usually it starts leaking too. To start narrowing down what it is, have someone ride with you to see if the noise is coming from left side or right side, or engine area, then see if it happens when the car is not moving, or just when the drive wheels are pulling the car? This way , hopefully you can pin point the culprit!

I have a vw golf mk 5 2.0 sdi, when engin starts, the whole engine shakes untill I drive the car. The after 3500 revs in some gears the car seams to ****!!

Check the VAG code. I had the same problem with my MK V 1.4 FSI. Let me guess when you rev it, it dusnt shake anymore?

It might be one of your cylinders are misfiring. And this might be faults with spark plugs, coil pack or the injector. You'll be lucky if it is the first two as they aren't much expensive to repair. It will cost you if it is the injectors.

1994 Volkswagen MK1 golf knocking noise

Very simple.... I had this problem and it drove me Crazy.... your gearbox engine mount is gone. When you look at it it will look fine but when under load it moves. creating the knocking noise..

Use a crowbar (Very carefully) to move the engine to check.
