Installing a cd

The cd disk that came with my lexmark x1240 all in one ink jet printer, will not install.

    I tried to install the lexmark x1240 to my new computer with the CD. It keeps telling me problem communicating with the printer.

Trying add Lexmark x1240 printer to my laptop it doesn't print. I received it from someone .who never used it
Is 'lexmark x 1240' show as printer icon? If no . The printer driver does not install properly.To install the driver properly follow the mentioned proces.
1.Insert installation disk in the cd rom.
2. click coustom install, then click driver. Install will be copntinuin. After a few time printer connection will want. In that time you need to on the printer. Then printer is automatically install .

Hello,

Looks like Lexmark is in the process of creating Mac drivers. See:

Mac Driver Availability

Although that is for a 1270, they have the same driver and there was no info on the 1240 page. It doesn't say when they expect them to be available either. I couldn't find that anywhere.

Must instal software to computer hardrive no cd
You can install your X1240 All-on-One by following follwing these steps

1) Insert your X1240 installation Disk in the CD drive. Install the software by following the instructions on the screen.

2)Connect the USB cable of the printer to your computers USB port. Your printer will be detected and Ready to work.

3) If you have Windows Vista , download the upgrade drivers from Lexmark Website and intall them, then connect your X1240.

Adding a printer without the software
Maybe.If the windows has that model shown you can. Or download the driver and install it:No VISTA driver available. Try installing forst w/o a disk by doing the following :
START - CONTROL PANEL - PRINTERS AND FAXS - IINSTALL PRINTER- When it askes if you have the disk , say no.

Yes you install without the disk ,first you need to click here
then type X1240 you get option lexmark X1240 ...and then choose the OS and download the driver file and install in on your computer ......

I have a Lexmark X5650es printer (all-in-one).
