Question about PC Laptops
Im having problem with my NEC LAVIE LL500/6 laptop, the letter "h" continuosly pressed even it is not physically pressed. I dont think the problem is with my OS because it seems to be pressed even in the start-up screen before windows is loaded. Could anyone give me advice what to do? do I need to replace the keyboard?
I must agree that you have a keyboard problem only.
No KB replacement should be necessary. One solution is to disassemble the KB and clean the circuit board with warm soap and water and then with alcohol. Then clean the mating contact pad (the part that is just under the key)...these pads are conductive material that lose conductivity when dusty. This is assuming your KB is the printed switch type. However, if you have the more durable type with individual switch mechanisms for each key, use the same approach but just clean the "h" key...that h switch assembly may need to be disassembled. I have cleaned these by carefully looking for the plastic latching mechanism and then inserting jeweler's screwdrivers just at these points to carefully stretch the plastic just enough to allow disassembly. Then look for the metal contacts and clean them with a good ink pen eraser.
Overall, This can be a very tedious task, so expect to put about 4 hours into it. With practice, I have cleaned complete KB's in about 1/2 hour including removal from laptop and reassembly..
