Hi this as a problem with your convergence ic they will need replacing this is a common fault with these types of tv nearly every problem on this site is the same as yours eventually your telly will stop working all together but if this happens you will then need to replace some resistors as well as these tend to go with the convergence ics so this will also need to be checked if you are unable to do this repair yourself then the cheapest way is to take the telly to repair shop yourself as calling someone out will charge call out and will also charge for transporting witch can ad 75 pound onto the price of repair.
It is very common problem so the repair shop should have no problem sourcing parts for you best thing to do is shop around and get the best price you can tell them what the problem is and this will stop them charging for finding the fault just say someone looked at it for you and told you what needed repairing as sometimes they will try confusing you with unecasarry repairs let me know if you can do the repair yourself but only if you have correct equipment to test all parts needed hope this is some help to you

hi their should be two from what i can remember of your model number both of these can be brought from panasonic but will probably be the expensive option.
If you go into your local repair shop and take your make and model number with you the should be able to get the parts for you and they should be considerably cheaper but they will be just as good as genuine parts to get the part number try using search engine and look for schematics for then give your make and model number often they are on the net i will look for you and if i come across one i will let you know ok

  • paul proctor Jan 16, 2008

ill try and find schematics for you but could be difficult for your set as they dont get posted on net often but i will look do you have use of multimeter and also a good soldering iron you will also need to test resistance at certain points using the schematics if i find them for you i will post back ok

sorry i couldnt offer you any more help but their is a lot you will need to do and you might not have the right equipment its not worth trying if you are not 100% sure you can do it as you could make the situation worse and also the voltage involved can kill as the voltage is still in the tell upto 24hrs after it is unplugged

It appears that the image on the screen is zoomed in, but I can't figure out how to "undo" that. Thank you!

If the image on screen is zoomed both in vertical and horizontal direction, your TVs power regulator inside it is faulty. [Overvoltage]. If it is zoomed in vertical direction only, that is only the height of the picture is zoomed, you can adjust it with the remote control button directly on going through menu and get in to the function menu. Normally all TV remote has a special button marked as "Zoom" which on pressing it once the picture get zoomed, again another press the picture gets wide and again an another press picture will come to normal mode. You should select normal mode to retify the problem.

The Picture appears to be zoomed in. Cannot figure out how to adjust picture to fit the television

There should be a zoom feature on your remote press that and it will take you to diffrent modes otherwise its got to be in the menu settings of the tv itself.

Thanks

My TV picture cuts off on the top and bottom

Check what format you are in. 4:3 is like a regular tv. Sides will be cut off in this format on a widescreen tv. 16:9 zoomed will cut of top & bottom slightly. You want just regular 16:9. No zoom.

Widescreen thinks it's a big screen

Information as to the type of signal input is needed to resolve this problem. Does it appear in zoom mode when playing a dvd, or just in catv mode? Some times an HD cable box must be reset to a particular aspect ratio. This can be done by reading the owners manual of the cable box manufacturer. Scrivitron
