Was watching blu ray last night and the game froze. restarted unit and wouldn't load movie. put game in, and it read the disc, then froze while loading. wouldn't load the game or tell me invalid disc. then it won't load anything or it will go to the default screen of the p3 (when no game is inserted) and won't recognize the disk. everything works other than that.

I had the same problem -- we even returned the disc and got a new one.
Go to the Vizio site and download the firmware for your player. Put it
on a USB stick and plug it into the player. Follow the onscreen
instructions (basically just press OK). The entire process takes less
than 5 minutes from download to finish.
Disc has been loaded upside
down. Place the disc with the label side up.
Disc region code does not
match region code of the player.
Disc type is not the correct
type to play.
Disc is damaged or dirty.
Clean the disc or try another.
Moisture may be condensed
inside the unit. Remove the disc and the leave the power on
for one or two hours.
Finally the OPU, optical pickup unit contain too the lasser beam, NOT are reading the TOC of disk,+Syscon can be defective. You must go to the repair shop TV for fix it. this a complex equipment. see tje block diagram. God bless you
Hi there, Most PS3 systems end up doing this due to an over heating of the laser lens. Let me explain: The laser lens in the PS3 is made to read mainly Blue Ray games. The movies need to be read faster than the game discs which causes it to work harder thus the problem arising. Sometimes, your lucky enough for this to only be a dirty lens problem due to rental movies which are most of the time, if not always, dirty. Have you tried a lens cleaner kit?
This is the CD-ROM with a small brush on it to clean your laser lens head.
This problem has happened to me in the past and this solved the problem.
It is a common problem for any lens reading console.
we just took our ps3 apart and tinkered with the parts and cleaned out the dust and it started working again!!!! and it only took three hours.....i suggest buying an intercooler and watch getting any liquids (especially cleaning products) within 50 feet of a playstation.
