There are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue of your Watts film/slide scanner not communicating with your Windows 10 computer:
Check the USB connection: Ensure that the USB cable is properly connected to both the scanner and the computer. Try connecting the scanner to a different USB port on your computer to see if it is recognized.
Install the scanner driver: Make sure that you have installed the correct driver software for your scanner. Visit the manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for your scanner model and operating system. Then, install the driver software on your computer.
Restart your computer: Sometimes, simply restarting your computer can resolve issues with USB devices not being recognized.
Check device manager: Open the device manager on your computer and look for any yellow exclamation marks or warning symbols. This could indicate an issue with the scanner driver or a conflict with other USB devices.
Update Windows: Make sure that your Windows 10 operating system is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates.
Try a different computer: If none of the above steps work, try connecting the scanner to a different computer to see if it is recognized. If it works on another computer, there may be an issue with your Windows 10 system or USB port.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may need to contact the manufacturer's technical support for further assistance.
Error code 171,0,0 on the Canon 5600F scanner indicates a communication error between the scanner and the computer. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check the cable connection between the scanner and the computer. Make sure that the USB cable is securely plugged in on both ends and that there are no visible signs of damage.
Try a different USB port on the computer. Sometimes, the USB port that the scanner is plugged into can be the issue.
Make sure that the scanner driver is installed and up-to-date. You can check for driver updates on the Canon website.
Uninstall and reinstall the scanner driver. This can sometimes fix communication issues.
Try scanning film with a different scanning software. There may be an issue with the software you are using.
If none of these steps work, it's possible that there may be a hardware issue with the scanner. In this case, you may need to contact Canon support for further assistance.

First try this: change the usb cable, try another USB port on the computer and if it does not recognize any, you have changed a logic board. May have to check if start equipment, add sheets to be scanned and press the green button it will scan? (not connected to the computer) if so, sensors and engine works.
The only thing i can think of is that you might have a USB problem. I've had similar problems but never been able to fix them =/. Install the original files that came with your computer, if you still have the disk.
go in the computer software like windows photo gallery and scan an image or document. If the settings are corect as you say it should give you the option to aquire image from scanner
