Denon d-c30 cassette problems

posted by Craigca3 on Dec 29, 2007

Hi

I have a Denon d-c30 cassette/amplifier unit. When i turn the unit on, there is a clicking noise (for about 10 seconds or) from the cassette unit, before the unit will actually work. The radio and cd functions are fine, but one of the cassette decks won't open.....any hints or suggestions?

Thanks
Craig

Hi Craig,

I started my electronics "career" at the age of six. Will not bore you with details. Firtsly I would suggest that you check your power rails with a scope then follow the crackle in the usual way. Now what about dry joints or dry caps? If there is any semiconductors containing germanium, check them out. If aal else fail put the tape in the fridge for a couple of hours!!! Make use of a hairdrier to "prehaeat the unit. I used to do milspec and we worked at -40 to +55 centigrade. There might even be a noisy reistor in the psu.

King regards
