Re: program upload

Most of the programs requires registry entry. So its not recommended method. However Some cases saving the programs directory under Program Files to another media and copy to another computer in a new folder works. Still its depends on the Program or application that you want to move to other computer. You contact also publisher of the application that you use.

Good Luck

Acer 5000 no keyboard and mouse uploading xp home

You might have a faulty keyboard or a key may be continuously pressed without you seeing it physically. When you get to that screen again, try running your hand across all the keys a few times and see what happens. If not, just go on ebay and find a cheap one and replace it.

How can i get my pc to restart without taking much time?

Slow computer If you have a virus program installed, it is most likely is running a scan on your hard disk. It can slow down your computer especially if you have a large hard drive. After scanning is completed then the computer will be faster.
To make your computer (hard disk) lean and mean, uninstall any programs you do not use.
Also you need to maintain your hard disk by running Disk Cleanup this will remove old temp files and old compressed files etc.
This will reduce the number of files the virus scanner has to scan. Plus running Defrag. this makes your files contiguous so the system can access files off the hard drive quicker because it does not work as hard.. Disk Cleanup and Defrag should be carried out at least once a month.
If you have 512Mb of RAM installed then installing more RAM will speed up your computer. After installing your graphics card, you may need to disable the built-in graphics card in the BIOS for the new graphics card to work properly.

Hi, My laptop taking so much time to switch on and it became very slow. Please tell me the soluiton for it.

Sometimes slow booting of computers and Laptops are caused by viruses and spywares. Also, a High temperatured Processor makes a computer slow.
Here are some solutions you might want to try.
  1. If you have a installed antivirus in your computer, i suggest you update your Antivirus and then Start scanning your computer for possible viruses and spywares.
  2. If viruses and Spywares are not the problem, maybe your Processor is feeling to much heat. I suggest you use Laptop Coolers like this one. heifentrixx_11.jpg
  3. This will help you cool down you Processor and Laptop.
Hope my solution will help. Thanks for using Fixya!

Get blank screen when I turn it on. I was uploading a program then I shut off my computer and unplugged it. I do not have the installation disk anymore. Is there a way to fix? Thank you Sara

Hello, Sara.

The uploaded program may have caused some problems with your operating system.

Boot your system to Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly). Go to System Restore and choose a date when your system worked OK. Note: with System Restore, all your updates will roll back to that date.

You'll probably need to upload that program again.

Hope this helps.

My toshiba laptop Model name SATELLITE PRO M40 X AR get hang in between and take very long for start up.

It could be possibility that there is a large number of programs on the startup list of the computer that is why it is starting slow. You can try to remove some programs from the startup list by:
then on top of the new window click on startup tab and uncheck all the boxes over there and then click OK at the bottom and restart the computer.

Let us know if that helped the computer in speeding up or not. You can also chat with us online at and if you want then we can take the remote access of the computer to help you better. :-)

Since new my laptop has told me I am low on disk space.. it is cridically low now.. I have deleated everything I can and it will let me deleat... I am not sure what to deleat without crashing my system......

First thing you can do is to try a disk defragmentation. Generally called defrag. Click on start. click on 'all programs'. Clcik on 'accessories'. Clcik on 'system tools'. There you will see disk defragmenter. Double click on it. It may take a while to get the process completed, especially since you do not seem to have much space left for the defragmenter to work efficiently. Even after this do not accept a great improvement on space. But it will help. Then remove all temporary files. This is how. Double click on My computer. Double click on C: (whichever name or partition windows is ) double click on Windows folder. Double click on Temp folder. You may see a long list of files and folders. Select all and delete. The empty the recycle bin. You may gain some space. Get hold of a USB pen drive. An 8 or 16GB one. Transfer all your personal data (if this is a possible option for you) to that drive. Next one is experimental. I have not tried it. But should be possible. Instead of installing programs to your program files, create a Program files folder in your new USB drive and install it there. You must know this. If any program is installed into the USB drive, that program will not work without that USB drive being connected. If this works, a 32 GB high speed USB drive would be an excellent investment (provided you do not have the tendency to loose stuff)

Windows xp home edition is currupt

You can try a few things...

1. Uninstall any suspect programs ... Go into Control Panel, Add Remove programs and remove them.

2. Buy and install good anti-virus software ... this will remove threats.

3. Create a new account with Administrator rights and delete all old accounts.

4. Download Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware. Run the scans on these programs they will remove alot of spyware.

5. Run System Restore, (from Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools) Restore your computer as far back as you can....

and ... keep your laptop away from pesky teenagers!!!!!
