Trouble starting compaq presario F551AU

my computer was working fine but today when i turn it on it comes up needing to use start repair, it tries to fix it but than comes uo windows cannot repair the computer automatically. the reason it gives is that something is attatched to the computer that needs to be removed before re booting to fix the problem, but nothing is attatched.the only thing i can think of that may have triggered a problem is turning the computer off without shutting it down first last night. how can i get it to start up again?

Ok, first off when you turn off the computer without shutting down, windws does not get enough time to wirte necessary data to the disc, this does not always cause aproblem because sometimes there are unpredictable events such as power failure..
You might need to format your hardrive to fix this problem
To do this boot with the windows cd, it will say press any key to boot from disc. (YOU MIGHT NEED TO SET YOUR BOOT DEVICE IN THE BIOS(SETUP))
anyway fisrt off try a fresh install, leaving your current file system intact. Id that works then you will still have all your data on your disc, If not then you need to do a complete format.. Good Luck
