Question about Canon PIXMA iP90 InkJet Printer
Is it possible to get a new printhead for a canon ip90 printer? The black inkjets seem to be clogged and I do not know what to do. Can you help me?
There is a very easy fix for a Canon IP90 not printing either color or black. I just fixed mine a few minutes ago. Go to the local Dollar store and buy some nail polish remover. Then open up the printer, remove the ink cartridge(s) and put a few drops of nail polish remover in the hole that receives the ink. Works like a charm and fixed mine in just minutes. After inserting the polish remover (actually just Acetone with some glycerin) reinsert the ink cartridge and do a deep clean using the Canon utility from the Control Panel under "Printers > Properties > Maintenance (right click on the Printer icon in Control Panel to start)." You can also simply use acetone. Another trick is to remove the print head which holds the ink cartridges (although I could not figure out how to do this but it's doable) then put a paper towel soaked with distilled water (tap water probably OK) in the microwave, heat the towel and quickly put the print head on the hot paper towel. As a last resort simply order a new print head from the Internet and replace the print head. I would presume it would come with instructions for removing the old print head.

This links to a manual that shows how to install the printer head. do the reverse, then clean the bottom of the print head with cotton swabs dipped in rubbing alcohol. Mine was very dirty, with crusted up ink. It prints like new now!! Good luck.

The printhead is QY6-0052-000, and the Canon reps weren't faking it. There is ,however, a firmware update that we Canon reps have to update firmware to 1.02 which helps black cleaning by positioning the printhead better. You need a shop to install the new firmware.

Im looking for a new Cyan print head too, cuz the current one flat-out died today after hardly any use. Cleaning does no good either, and I dont think it's clogged. It just up and died, 100% one day and 0% the next.
Funny, the reviews on Amazon were good, but now they're consistently bad. I guess the early reviews were all Canon reps faking it, and now the truth comes out. Thanks Canon.
