You need to enter the Router's Menu. Its web Based you can type from your web browser to get into your Router's Menu. It might come up with Username and password request put "admin" for both of them (its default).Since the Menu is very easy to understand you will find all settings including security that you needed. Make sure your laptop had DHCP enabled and Router connected to computer.

Good Luck

Need password for wireless roter

If you need the login password for the router's setup page, the default username: admin, password: password.

If you need the wireless key or password, you need to access the router's setup page by typing or in the address field of your browser(IE or Chrome). On the login use the default username and password(admin, password).
After logging in. Look at the main menu on the left, click on Wireless Settings, from there you can check the WEP or you can setup wireless security from there if you haven't done so.
**If by chance you are unable to access the router's login or setup page, you will have to reset the router to factory settings by holding the reset button on the back of the router using a paper clip or a pen for 30 seconds while the router is plugged in to the power outlet. You will then be able to access the router's setup page using the default username and password.

Hope this helps.

Would like to lock my router

If you're talking about securing your wireless network, then it's easy!

  1. First navigate to in your browser
  2. Input your username and password. If this is default (you haven't changed it) then it the username is usually admin, and the password is NOTHING
  3. Go to the "Wireless" tab
  4. Under "Basic Wireless Settings" begin by creating a SSID (Network Name)
  5. Then choose a form of security such as WEP or WPA. WPA is a little more secure.
  6. Then simply choose the security key that you want. Make sure it is familiar to you, yet harder to guess from an outside source.

I would also suggest creating a password for your router!

Hi, I havent used my wireless router (WL-520GC) for approx 18 months, i just purchased a Toshiba laptop and want to connect to the internet via the router on my main P.C. Its asking me for a password...

In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.

I'm trying to set up my Asus Wireless WL-520GC router for vpn. It's stop at ''veryfing username and password'', then different errors. What I have to do?

Maybe you entered a wrong username and password. Just enter your username and password correctly and try it again. If that doesnt solve your problem, try to reset your router and enter the default username and password.
