It seems like you have a faulty ballast. This is the board in charge of sending energy to the lamp http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=rca+ballast/?Click=48427
When a ballast does not work it will start shutting off and sometimes it will give you a dim image.
