Question about Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens
IS there a way to turn of the flash in the manual modes? When I press the flash button is doesn't seem to turn of the flash....the only way I can see is to take photos in the NoFlash setting, but it won't let me adjust the ISO setting when I am in this mode....
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The pop up button (over on the side near the front of the flash) only works in certain modes: P, Av, Tv or M modes.
Make sure you have one of those modes set then you control the flash by
pressing the button.
In other modes the flash pops up automatically in green box, Portrait, Close Up, and Night Portrait modes. The flash is off in Landscape, Sports, and No Flash modes.

That is a manual way of overriding the flash but you should still be able to deselect the flash by cycling through the flash selections. let me know if you have further questions or problems with this and i will research if further for you
