Question about Canon PowerShot A530 Digital Camera
I have a one year old Canon Powershot A530. It works great for taking snapshots with the 16 MB Memory card it came with. I just bought a new 4 MB Memory Card that should work with it, but I get a "Memory Card Error - Locked" message? What can I do to fix this and How do I do it?
I had the same problem, i checked the little slide switch but nothing . it still says card error. my new card works fine though

Take the card out, and you'll see a little slide switch on the side of the card. It is most likely in the "lock" position.

The likely problem is that the BIOS battery (NOT the rechargeable Lithium battery) has run low. This tiny, internal battery can be replaced without too much trouble by someone who doesn't mind disassembly of small parts, otherwise it's best left to a pro.
The battery is available from Canon or an official distributor, such as Huron Camera in Jackson, Michigan.
Check the parts list. If you're squeamish, give Huron a call and arrange to have them fix it.
