First I would double check all of your connections. Then I would try to seat and reseat the video card. If its possible try and use a different video card to test and see if that is the issue. There is a chance that you damaged the mother board during your power supply replacement. Dunno if that helps but thats what I would try first.

Dell optiplex hardware failure no screen when I turn it on. What do i do to get the screen to come on. thanks.

Hello,1st Is your computer turning on? Fans spinning? any beeps?
2nd Please check to see all the connections are properly connect (VGA,DVI,Power)3nd - Is you monitor on the right input? VGA,DVIIf you can confirm all the above is correctly plugged and set then you have 2 things that could of failed.1st - your video card. The vidoe card outputs the video signal to the monitor. One reason you make not be getting video feed
2nd - your monitor. try swapping cables or monitor and see if you get any picture.
Is your PC still under warranty? Dell will replace the video card if under warranty.

My desktop monitor direct go in power save please solve it as soon as possible its urgent

power save mode indicates no input signal. Check the input signal with a known good monitor. if the signal is good then dell monitor is faulty. Power cycle (unplug the power then plug it back in) the monitor to reset to factory and if it still goes directly into power save mode the unit is faulty.

Some of the dell desktops have had a power supply issue where the power supply would work sometimes and not other times...these supplies aren't very expensive if you order one from a place like replace the power supply you need to open the case and look at the big square metal box towards the rear of the should have 2-4 screws holding it to the case and it will have the fan attached to it...once you unplug everything and take out the need to look at the specification sticker and see what the wattage for the supply is...when you order a new need to get one of the same wattage or there are several different power supplies available with different may need to call the technical dept. of the place where you are getting the power supply from and see if they will cross reference it to one they have in stock, so you get the right for the monitor deal...most monitors will tell you these things if there is no power coming from the computer..this is normal and serves as a way to let you know that a cable is off or that the computer is malfunctioning

Nothing comes up on the screen

The monitor connected to the system is set to receive video signals from the DVI port on the video card and it is not getting a signal.

Possible Causes:
  1. Monitor is connected via VGA (Blue Connector). Fix by using the input select button to select DVI input)
  2. The video cable is not connected to the correct port on the system (Or not connected at all)
  3. The monitor is on, but the tower is not powering on or failing to complete the Power On Self-Test (POST). It the power LED on the tower is NOT on, or solid or flashing Amber then the tower is not posting. Flashing amber is normally a bad power supply, solid amber is the motherboard.

I need power cords for my monitor

The monitor needs a power cord and a signal cable. The power cord is a standard 3-prong detachable cord just like the one on nearly every desktop computer and many other electronic appliances.

The signal cable may be one of two types, depending on your computer's video connector. The monitor has connectors for both VGA (a D-shaped connector with 15 pins) and DVI (a rectangular connector) inputs. You need a cable with whichever type of connector fits your computer.

You should be able to find the power cord at Radio Shack, any of the big office supply places, or retailers who sell computers. The signal cable may be available there as well, or you can order from a number of online vendors.

The monitor also allows you to plug in a USB cable from your computer so you can plug in USB devices like a keyboard or mouse. For that you need the same kind of USB cable you would use to connect a printer.

You can view or download a copy of the monitor user's guide at Dell's site here:

Computer Won't Power Up

If the blinking amber LED is on the computer itself and not the monitor, this is most likely a power supply issue. First thing to try would be replace the power supply. If the blinking led is on the monitor, it probably has bad capacitors and needs to be replaced. (or repaired)
