Try to this. Start - Right Click My Computer - Properties - Hardware - Device

Look at cdrom button it might obstructed or pressed in, try pulling and pressing. Or it could be a program/driver problem. Try restoring your pc the day before it happen.

shut down the computer completely and disconnect power cable connection. make sure all cables to the CDROM are connected properly. If they are , remove the cables.
Remove the CDROM, clean it from any dust or debris with air compressor inside bay area and around the connection circuits. Replace the CDROM back into tray and start up computer. If problem persists. go to , retrieve CDROM part number and get a quote for replacement CDROM drive. The one you have obviously does not work at all.

My driver for sony cd rom cdu5211 is lost and now my CD ROM is not reading any type of CD.

It depends on what Operating System you are using.Windows Xp have all the drivers for Sony and other brands of CD rom drives, same with Vista and win7.Just go to the control panel, click the hardware manager and the drop down menu will show the hardwares of your CPU.Look for the cdrom driver and see if it has the yellow baloon with exclamation-meaning it has an error or the driver is not installed. You can go to sony website and type in your cdrom drive model and it will give you the driver for it,download the software. If the software is detected and ask you to install it,click "yes".After the process is done, test it by putting in a music or picture cd,make sure the drive is clean too cause reasons why cdroms don't read is because of dirty laserheads.Buy yourself a cdrom lens cleaner disk,it helps me many times.

Cd player cannnot open a cd

Depending on the manufacture date of the CDROM, if it is more than 5 years old, it could be that the technology of the CDROM drive and the CD media you are trying to copy onto to are not compatible.

My laptop acer aspire4730z i got problem with my cd-rom(can't run)Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) cd-rom drive(tsstcorpcd...

You have one of two problems....

1 - The driver for the cdrom drive has become corrupted somehow and needs replacing. Go out to the ACER website and download the cdrom driver specific to your make and model of computer (it is IMPORTANT that you provide specific information in the window boxes to get the correct driver for your hardware.) Once you have the new driver, uninstall the device from within Device Manager. Reboot the computer and when Windows proclaims it has found a new device, select to install the device driver from a specific location. Browse to the folder where you expanded the drivers and let Windows install and update the drivers from that location. OR the other possibility is....

2 - Your cdrom drive has died. Remedy, have it replaced.

My cd rom wil not work it just quit working for no reason it will not play any cds or let me burn anything

First open the "Device Manager" to check for any error messages related to the device and click on "Start" and select "Control Panel" .

Now double-click on the "System" icon then click on the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. A new window appears, and displays whether the device is working properly. If there are any errors, click the "Troubleshoot" button and follow the given onscreen instructions.

Check the DVD that you are trying to use to and ensure that it is free of dirt and scratches and the proper format compatible with your drive.

Now uninstall any drivers that may be on your computer from previous DVD drives.

Now download the latest driver updates for your DVD drive model from Dell website & install it.

Also check on Dell website that your machine has the minimum requirements to operate the drive.

Now restart your computer & check your DVD drive.
I hope issue has been resolved.

If the same problem is still occurring, get the reliable Dell support at http:/www./

CD-ROM icon missing on screen

Can you see it in your device manager? if you can't then its a physical problem which means you will need to double check your physical connections between the cdrom and your motherboard as well as the power connections.
Another way to double check is go to your bios and see if the biois detects your cdrom. If it doesnt then i think you cdrom is dead.
