If it is the timer you could manually turn it to go through the cycles. Most likely it is the pump. If the pump won't drain it won't spin hence it will stop right after the wash cycle. Pumps are fairly easy. Unplug the wasker. Remove as much of the water as you can. Pull out the unit and shut off your water supply hoses. Take off the back. The pump will be clamped to the largest hoses. Put towels on the floor once you take off the clamps all of the water will drain out. Replace the pump. Call Sears to get the new pump. Hope this helps-good luck.

Washer will not cycle

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

    Kenmore 80 Series draining problem

Check the following before replacing the timer.

    1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

    2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

Does it fill with "cold" water? Will it spin?Drain? If the machine will fill up with cold water, will the timer advance by itself to finish?Or if you place the timer in spin cycle will it spin?First off if your not getting "Cold" water to fill inside :Replace the water valve (because when the timer stops after the agitation cycle it wont advance because it cant fill up with cold water.
