Delay when I turn on my Kitchenaid Professional 6 Mixer

When I turn on my Kitchenaid Professional 6 Mixer, to any speed, there is a delay before it starts, then it will just start at the set speed, same problem when I reduce or increase the speed, when mixing, there is a dely. Can this be something I can fix myself? Thank you.
