Re: XBox will not read games, new or old.

It may be something as simple as a dirty lens.
try cleaning the lens.
Just direct a blow dryer into the xbox through the tray.
Or you could buy a cleanig disk, fairly cheap, about 5$
try this before touching ANYTHING

Re: XBox will not read games, new or old.

Maybe someone tried soft modding it? or
all xboxes come with 3 different dvd drives
Samsung, Philips and Thomson .
the Samsung seems to be the best drive out there as i have 2 xboxes that are 5 years old and not a problem at all
you can read more here :)

or if you want i work on them just email me what you want to do on this

Every time I put a new game it's unreadable and doesn't work, but when I put a old xbox 360 games they work fine , for example my Red Dead redemption, which I have had for almost a year works fine , but...

well, the only thing that i can think of is that your old games work because you may have backeed them up to your HDD. For whatever reason, it is not reading any of the discs, but you can play the old games because the machine knows the correct disc is in the drive, and plays it straight form the hard drive. Note that this answer is based on the assumption you back your games up; you may need a new DVD drive.

i may be wrong on this but i think if you move one hard drive from one xbox to another you'll have to reformat the drive which will erase all your games and save data on it.

Xbox 360 sais my xbox games are DVDs

I hope you didnt throw the old disc drive away, because if you did then all you have is a expensive paper weight. There is a security number implanted in the motherboard and it has to match the security number injected in the board in the dvd drive. (Purpose of this is to help stop game piracy.) If you still have the old drive then you will have to open both the new drive and the old. (Do not get parts mixed up) In the new drive take the board out of it and replace it with the old one from the old drive. This will solve your problem. But like I said I hope you didnt throw the old one away. And no there is no way to get the security numbers from the motherboard, you can only spoof the old drive to get the numbers so its easier to just swap the boards for the drives.

If this helped please rate.

My xbox 360 only pays old games(like pgr3) and not new games(like need for speed shift)

The laser in your XBox 360 is probably going out. When lasers start to fail, the first discs that stop reading are newer, dual layer, discs. Single layer discs will still read. As the laser wears out, single layer DVDs will stop reading but CDs will continue to read. Eventually, everything will stop reading and the laser will die.

You can find lasers for the XBox 360 all over the internet. Installing them isn't easy though.

My xbox 360 isn't reading the games

Laser is weak , needs new laser
or one of the two motors in
the drive is dead, needs new drive
If you need to replace the drive
you will have to remove the old drives P.C.B
a instal in the new drive.
