I have a new tomtom one and my big fat fingers evidently got too close to Guam. How do I find a way to get my correct address into the devise?

  • Anonymous Jan 04, 2008

I need to correct my home address including the country. I think the tomtom wants me in Guam. I haven't done anything other than try different screens that might let me have an option to change my home address.

I am stuck on Guam too! And I can't get back to US. PLEASE HELP

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2009

Downloaded my free "guaranteed upgrade" map and now I only have Guam available too. Going through the setup screens shows only Guam available although TomTom HOME on my PC shows the USA&Canada map is loaded on the TomTom.

    This sucks.

This TomTom comes loaded with 2 maps....Guam and the US with Canada. I too got stuck in Guam and it is not obvious how to get out of it. But here it is.
Go to Main Menu, then Change Preferences
Hit forward arrow twice
Go to Manage Maps
Hit forward arrow once and choose Switch Map
It should show you Guam and the US and Canada
Tap US and Canada and it should take you out of Guam!!
Mine did and I am now going to delete the Guam map.

My TomTom One only shows Guam maps even though I can see the other maps in the unit from my PC (both by looking at the TomTom as a USB memory device and by using TomTom Home software to see what's installed).

This happened after I downloaded the "latest map guaranteed" map.

Tried all the solutions posted but the one that finally worked for me was to keep updating my TomTom's software using TomTom Home until there were no more updates available After the update tonight, everything now works again.

I did a two backups tonight (using TomTom Home and via Windows directly). Given the really flakey nature of the software (at one point in my journey I got the dreaded red X and took days to fix that) I think I will not connect my unit again. I don't trust TomTom not to turn it into a "brick" again so I’ll live with things as they are.

Been fiddling with this for days. It says Guam is the only map. TomTom home says the other is in the machine but it doesn't seem to be. Also the thing wants me to turn right ALL the time. hasn't suggested a left yet even if arrow goes that way. I think a ten pound mallet and a box to send it back. TomTom help is useless.

I received my tomtom yesterday. I logged on and tried to download updates. It downloaded a map for Guam and erased my US map and everything I had saved.

When I tried to go back in and erase the Guam map and put back on the US map, it tells me that the map I need is 903MB and I only have 117MB available.

I erased everything that was on my tomtom hoping to free space and start over, but I still only have 133.9MB available.

I am beyond frustrated and loved this product...until I got online.

My tomtom only gives Guam locations

Your problem might be that the GPS can't get a lock on the satellites and it doesn't know in which part of the world it is.

I suggest you download the latest updates and QuickFix, then leave the unti close to a windows (even if you are indoors). The unit should be able to getn afix on the GPS satellites in less than 15 minutes.

Please, let me know if you need more detailed instructions.

Tom Tom only has Guam map since update

That is really strange!
I can only suggest that you verify what MAPs are physically on your TomTom device by connecting it to a PC/LAPTOP and use Windows Explorer to look at your GPS drive folders: should see a folder for each 'country' (like GUAM).
The normal way to check which maps are registred and loaded on your device is to use TomTom Home -> Update maps function: it will show you the status or whereabout of any Maps that you have loaded or backup and which one can be purchased.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.
ps.i f you wisely backup your device on a regular basis (via TomTom Home or direct copy to your PC/LAPTOP), you could always RESTORE FROM BACKUP and start again.
