Clean it, blow into the game console try to blow out some of that dust. also try to clean the 64 cartridge with a lil bit of rubbing alchol and a q tip. when you put the game back in be real easy with it. dont set it in there and smack it down. keep trying until you get a good connection between the 64 and the game cartridge.

Try replacing the video cable. If that does not work, see if you can purchase a replacement video cable for the N64

Im trying to play my N64 (Nintendo 64) and the red light comes on but i can get a picture or sound from the TV. It is an older TV (it says "ADVENT" on the front). It is not a plasma or an LCD TV....

Well you need an N64 rf switch piece for it to work on a tv that does not have the rc jacks on it. I have the rf switch for N64 then thats what you need too.

When ever i turn on the power button for my n64 the pictures for my console don't ever come on. My dad thinks that the part for the power swith is loose or broken. Why did it break is it because its just...

Well it might be the memcart on the system went bad then or its possible that the on and off switch could be loose then. So to fix the on & off button you need to attach duc tape or gum to the inside
were the power btton lives on the inside part of the n64 consoles.

My nintendo 64 is not registering on the TV. The red light comes on when it is switched on, but there is no picture or sound.

make sure the n-64 and t-v are set to the same channel! either 3 or 4. if it's a new t-v, you have satellite, cable, you may have to mess with the t-v settings to get sound & display.
long live 'ocarina of time'!
good luck!
