Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS Router (e125894)

1 Answer

I have a LINKSYS wrt54gs wireless router. I bought this about a year and half ago and used it for about 5 months and then packed it up and moved to another state. I now have another PC in the house and wanted to hook it up without running cables.
My connection is via a radiowave and it has a dish that points off to a tower. The connection is like the larger telephone plug and it has a little box on it about 2 inches by 1 inch by 1 inch and that plugs into thew back of my PC.
When I plug that into the router and then plug the line from the router to the PC, plug in the power cord, I get an icon come up that says the connection is unplugged. I did get it to work for a short time but now is doing the same thing.
Any suggestions? Does this sound like I should get another one? How long are these warranteed for, do you know?
Even when it was being used before, I had it get the same thing occassionly. I would have to power off everything and power them back up.

I think the most likely problem is that both routers are using different IP address ranges and won't allow data to pass between them.
I suggest you use only the Linksys wireless router.

Take your wireless laptop or device, and do a wireless scan in your yardk or in your car. If there is more than one, check the wireless channel number that your router is broadcasting on. If your router is on the same number, it will cut out. Once you find out what free channel number is, then you need to change that router to that number and that should take care of it.
