Re: fail to spin

Yes and no :) It's connected in series with a set of centrifugal switch contacts and the start winding. The start winding's "polarity" with respect to the run winding is reversed by the timer switches (just below it in the diagram) depending on whether agitation or spin is needed. 9f39237.jpg

After wash cycle, water is pumped out but circuit breaker is blown when spin cycle starts.

Will the tub spin if you move it by hand? A motor will usually only draw excessive amperage if it cannot move easily... Also, take a look at the terminal block where the power cord attaches to the machine for burnt connections, a bad connection can cause a breaker to trip, same as a 'dead' short. A ge top load washer first began by making a buzzing noise instead of spinning. Now it doesn't spin as fast as before or just wont spin. Jeans wrapped around the agitator shouldn't damage the spin?

the agitator spins with the tub so clothes wrapped around the agitator will have no effect on the spin other than a balance problem
The hum and failure to start spinning may be attributed to a failed (failing ) start run capacitor or program board not moving on properly
As the start /run capacitor is for the motor and if it start the wash cycle ok but after that cycle ( around 30-40 minutes) it may be too hot to restart the motor for the spin
I suggest that a technician be called in to get a proper diagnosis and a quote

I have an LG model WF-T7015TP Turbodrum top-loader automatic washing machine. Having problem in that the drum does not agitate to and fro during the washing cucle. It's draining fine and even spin-drying...

check the agitator module unit and the start capacitor both in the back of the control panel One controls the agitation and the other starts the motor. If the start capacitor is failed simply replace it with a new one The agitator module will cost more . Have an appliance electrician check it out.

Simpson 175 shorting out

there are 2 items that come into play when the wash cycle starts 1 is a capacitor for the motor and the other is the module that works the agitator.. The module when it fails will not spin the motor so I seriously suspect that the capacitor has failed giving you a direct short to earth

Spin cycle not spinning clothes as dry as it once did.

It is a common fault that the drain fails to work in most machines in a period of time and is the most problematic fault in a washing machine. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution.

It seems that the time for spinning is short or that the spin speed ( RPM ) is low. If so check the motor drive. Check the capacitor to the motor as a faulty capacitor can reduce the speed.

Spin cycle does not work. Machine only hums when it should spin.

Check the motor capacitors. Wash cycle and run cycle capacitors are different in some m/cs.If these are OK motor winding to be checked.

Now it is ten years old and you are likely to get ball bearing problem. Get an repair estimate and decide which suits your budget.

Look for loose wiring connection at the motor capacitor (located beside the motor). Remove the connectors to the capacitor (one at a time), adjust connectors so they crimp the capacitor connection tabs tighter if necessary, and re-install. *Be very careful not to touch both capacitor connection tabs at the same time or you will get a good zap!*
If that doesn't help, you may have a defective motor.
Good luck!
