I have a digi8 DCR TRV140E - The USB does not recognise, windows does not recognise it and the only method that works to edit from the tapes recorded to pc is fire cable - try that folks at least it will hold you back from smashing the camera!!

I can't seem to send images from my camera via cable or infrared

Simply get a cable that fits. The camera cable should be a standard USB A for the Computer- assuming the computer has USB or is it Sony and fitted with Fire-wire in which you will need an adaptor Fire-wire to USB

Images can't show on the screen

first check the iris of the camera if it is opening, you will see this when you look inside the lens of the camera when you turn on and off the switch at camera mode if the iris is opening....if the iris is ok the second problem may occurs of your camera is the ccd image sensor....go to a sony service center for replacing that...i know it is free for replacing that sensor cause that is the recall product not only on sony but in other brand because the manufacturer of their sensor is only one company...

Transfer Video to PC

Assuming the camera is switched on or in transfer mode if required, you may need to reinstall the camera software, and preferably try using adifferent a different usb port.
