Question about Sony KV-T29CF1 TV

1 Answer

Colour bleed 1998, Sony 29" TV. From time to time, there is a red colour bleed onto faces or lighter areas. Do you think it is just an adjustment or some thing major? If it is something major in price repair, it would be cheaper to just replace it. Thank you for your time. Robert Sheid

Re: colour bleed

If it is in one of the corners it is a magnetic interferece problem. Most '90s and later sony tvs have a built in degaussing. Turn the tv off and turn in back on and it will degauss. If you have speakers too close move them away. If you have the tv on and move the speaker away you can see the effect.

after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to CRT TUBE - TV TUBE ) becomes weak - then 1 of the indication is that it takes few seconds time to start [ after few days it takes few hrs to start (your case) & then finally stops completely ].............. solution is EHT ( also called as flyback transformer ) should be replaced....... {{ few details about EHT---- its size will be around 3inch X 2inch X 2inch ---it will have 2 or 3 knobs to adjust focus , brightness ------ at bottom around 10 pins will be there ------- from EHT 1 thick red colour cable goes to CRT TUBE --------- on EHT its part number will be there }} -------- so if user is a technical person having idea about components ( resistors, transistors, diodes, etc ) , having tools like multimeter ( to check components) , soldering iron, soldering lead, flux, desoldering wig ( for removing components), etc also little experience in servicing field( compulsory) ----------------- then user can remove EHT from main board ---- take to electronic shop ----- buy same type EHT --------- fix to mainboard ( knobs on EHT should be adjusted according to picture --- after switching TV --- this adjustment is very important ) ----------iam from bangalore --- here EHT's price will be around Rs 250 ( US $ 6 ) & for my customers (in bangalore) i will take another Rs 500 (US $ 11) as service charge......i don't have any idea about EHT ' s price & service charge in your place.........since it is very risky job i suggest to contact TV service engineer ------- because they are highly experienced & can fix this component very easily. ------------ [[ sometimes along with EHT another component called transistor ( big in size - situated close to EHT - it will have 3pins - its size will be 1inch X 1/2 inch X 1/2 cm --approximately ---- black in colour ----- fixed to aluminium metal ) --- will also gets deffective --- so this component also should be checked ]] ---- in your case this transistor is good ... because when this component gets deffective then TV won't get '' ON '' in your case only EHT should be replaced.........100% it works normally .....GUARANTEE....... vishnuswamy_4.jpg

I have a 4 year old WEGA Trinitron HD TV (model # KV- 30HS420) that over the last few months has been switching between full color and color missing green colorations. Most of the time now the full colour...

A good TV repair shop should be able to repair this but given the current price of flat panel TV's you might want to think about scrapping it.
I was a little confused about your description of the fault, one colour disappearing is in a very different area of fault from all colour disappearing. Does it flash into correct colour momentarily if you fine tune it? Is the picture as far as you can tell black and white or does it have a strong colour cast on it where everything is for example reddy or bluish etc?
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

Blinking red light 5 times

This problem is due to moisture content in the flyback transformer surrounding area. Due to this moisture content screen control voltage is changed. Without getting a exact voltage the indicator will not stop. 5 times blinking is only for screen malfunction. Make one general service by cleaning the deflection area and adjusting screen control the problem is solved.

Pic Bleeding

this sympton is characterized by the presence of red, cyan, green, magenta, blue or yellow colour in a supposedly plain white raster. proper colour reproduction cannot be expected if the raster is coloured. this symptom is caused by a poor white balance adjustment of by a trouble in the CRT, colour amplifier, color demodulation or colour output circuits. if the raster has a tint of red or cyan, check the R-Y output circuits and the first grid, second grid and cathode circuits of the red electron gun. but if you dont know anything about this, just bring it to a qualified service technician. good luck!
