When i turned on my Samsung LED television all i get is a blank grey screen with no sound. i have Comcast but my other tvs are fine. i can play a dvd on it with sound and screen, no problem and the menu...

Follow the cable from the Comcast set top box and see where it is plugged into the tv. Check what that jack is labled and then select that option on the TV menu. My guess is that the tv and dvd are not both on component 2, if the are then the set top box is not connected directly to the tv but to the DVD unit. In that case, if the cable set top box is connected to the dvd, then you might need to put the tv on ch 3 (or maybe 2 or 4) or you may need to switch a setting on the DVD box or remote that selects the TV/DVD option.

Mitsubishi VS-60805 Rear Projection won't operate in HD mode with Cable Box

Since this is an older first generation (1999) HD TV it may not be compatible with newer HDTV receivers because the standards back then were different - Make sure the HD cable box is plugged into the HD component inputs on the back of the TV (not the DVD inputs) and that the menu setting on the TV is set to DTV (not RGB) video. This TV will only accept 480i and 480p signals on the DVD input. Also the HDTV input will only accept 480i,480p and 1080i (it will not work with a 720p signal,make sure your cable box is not set to that mode)

Old tv plays dvds but when cable box is on or off image scrolls vertically on the screen. wondering if this is an issue that can be fixed or is symptomatic of a 15 yr old tv. thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by "cable box is on or off". Do you mean connected? If the cable box is connected to the TV through a 300-ohm antenna input, you are probably getting a lot of interference from the workings of the cable box. Try moving the cable box away from the TV.
If the TV is connected to the cable box with a 75-ohm cable, it may not be properly grounded - try another cable.
Also try manually tuning the channel on which the cable signal comes in, usually 3 or 4. Try an alternate channel.

If the DVD player is built into the set, the signal is less subject to outside interference. If the DVD player connects to RCA jacks on the set, it is also less subject to interference.
Vertical hold problems can be caused by aging capacitors in the "sweep" circuits but usually one sees that as loss of vertical hold on the DVD signal, as well.
Good luck.

Screen is blue

Good Day, o_fraile;
Blue screen normally means your TV is not receiving a signal.
1. Reset TV by unplugging TV's A/C cord from source for 3 to 5 minutes...... plug back in
2. Do the same to "BOX" ( cable, sat & etc)
3. Make sure input is the correct, all inputs, turn DVD and others on and go through inputs.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

Screen turns off/screen tuns blue

Good Day, rbls;
This is a generic description of a common concern of this type. 90% of the time if the pic turns a color then turns off it is the picture tube.
If the picture is lost and the pic/screen turns blue it is normally a lost of signal from the TV's source (cable box, vcr,dvd & etc), check all cables, try different inputs & etc.
Good Luck, big IRISH. For more detail e me at

No picture, blue screen only

Good Day;

It sounds like you have a lack of signal; 1. reset TV by unplugging TV & signal sources from wall for at least 5 minutes then plug back in, 2. Turn all eguipment on such as cable box, dvd & etc, then change the inputs from your TV's remote, if still no pix,only blue.

Good Luck.

HDMI connection problem

On your TV set remote are you selecting the proper input; for example when you have different devices connected to the back of your tv set, dvd player, vcr, cable box etc; you have to tell the tv which device you want to use by selecting the right one on your tv remove input selection. Hope this was any help.
