Question about Sanyo HF-5020
This is a small under counter frig, w/metal U-shaped freezer tray.
Sensor from temp control is connected via plastic tube...I poked the tube!!!
Was defrosting, used butcher knife to free clump of ice, hissing sound,
the sensor where hissing came from is connected to the temp control.
Did all of the refrigerant leak out?
What to do?
More than likely you let the refrigerant out. Is there an oily residue? If so you definitely punctured the evaporator. It's time consuming and expensive to properly repair a standard refrigerator sealed system and maintain the chemical stabilty that will prevent future problems. But with those tiny units priced as they are, it's always cheaper to replace them.
