Fan with remote control speeds up on its own

By jloose1 on Oct 18, 2009

" "
I just bought a Hunter fan with a remote control. The fan speeds up on its own every now and then for no reason. Why? I had to pay quite a bit to have it installed on a high sloped ceiling. I don't want to have to pay to have it taken down to return to the store. Any suggestions?

Your fan is inadvertently set on "auto" on your remote. You should have a button on your remote labeled "fan auto" pressing this button switches from "manual" to "fan auto" modes. When in "auto", the fan turns on and off / slows down speeds up automatically to help keep the selected temp in the room. Good luck! Let me know if this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

bring the remote control to the store and have its function tested with similar unit. if the control works fine then you have no choice but to take down the fan and have it repaired
