Hello, I have a new WD Elements 500mg xternal hard drive.
I have just tried to backup my files for the first time and got this error.:-
You have either run out of space, or the backup file (.bkf) is too large for this disk. Note: If this disk is formatted with FAT32, the maximum possible size for the backup file is limited to 4 GB.
The backup operation will stop.
I note from PROPERTIES on the WD HD that it is formated with FAT£" format. SO the answer seems to be my WD HD is in the incorrect format for a backup. How do I remedy this please? I guess the answer is o reformat the HD, but how do I do this, please?
If you are using Windows Vista then format your external drive with exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table, aka FAT64), or NTFS. And if you are using Windows XP then only solution is to format drive with NTFS file system. How to do that, just right click on HD from My Computer an click format.
